Haven't seen this for a while, first snow in OK. It'll be gone tomorrow when the temps hit in the 40's.

Sigh. Now that I’m pushing 50, my time on a snowmobile has come and gone. It was no big deal to ride a couple hundred miles a day in the northern parts of Michigan and the UP, did it many times a year. Of course, that was before I was married with kids (translation: disposable income!!). I hadn’t been on a big snowmobile in years, and we haven’t had any significant snow here in several years. My back surgery was the deciding factor, I fold my sled last year. Wouldn’t you know it, 3 weeks later we got several inches, and it stayed cold enough for it to stick around a while. Last week, 8 inches, this weekend calling for 5-7 inches more. I’m sorry readerland, if I hadn’t sold it, it would be 50 and sunny.

Funny story: The lady who bought my snowmobile wrecked it the first time she and her husband took it out. She said her grandfather had a snowmobile growing up and enjoyed it. I told her today’s sleds are much bigger and faster than the stuff she grew up with!! Judging from the damage, she either didn’t believe me, or got just a little too enthusiastic!!

While residing in Norman, OK for x5 years of graduate school, I didn't see much snow but I sure saw plenty of ice.

We've had that white crap since September. It's going to be around for probably another 4 months at least, and if this year is anything like last year, we'll probably have some in May too. Ain't Climate Change nice...

In the North/Northeast, it's called "White Gold" by the snow plowing people...

Yes it is, I spent many days and nights hauling snow off the streets of NYC and plowing the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Pkwy back in the 70's.

I was born in Chicago raised in the Great White North. Perhaps more mid-western saying than anything else:
"It's colder than a witches tit in a brass bra face-down in the snow"

BTW, Chicago is not called the Windy City because of the naturally occurring phenomenon of wind. It was coined because of political turmoil - politicians from Chicago are full-of-wind (a bunch of wind-bags). Just wanted to put that to rest.

Went to a 50's restaurant yesterday in Orangeville, snowbelt territory. Waitress said she's been waiting four months to go snowmobiling. So our snowstorm produced a measly one cm of snow. Took care of that with small broom, not a wisk. However this morning's temp - 22 C. Windy most of the day and the small quantity of snow is light brown.
