That takes it to a different level - instead of just being prosecuted, you get harassed and pestered over a period of time!

All kidding aside, I would occasionally have problems like that at an apartment complex I managed. People who didn't live there would stop by and unload bags of garbage into the dumpsters. I actually caught a guy one day and nicely, but matter-of-factly, told him to remove his garbage and leave. I thought he was going to get physical with me but, at the last moment, he did remove his garbage and depart. I later found out this a violation of the law - it's called "theft of services", and that I could actually press charges if I wanted to do it. I wouldn't get excited over a mickey d bag but it would get my attention if I was paying someone's monthly garbage bill!

Yep, my dad owns a party store where the dumpster is 5ft from the road. My dad has caught people throwing bags in there! So he asked "what do you think you are doing? " guy says "throwing out my garbage" My dad says " you don't own that, I do and pay for it" guy says what it's there for then"

He then started locking it, then people just pile their bags in front of it!

Where does this self righteousness comes? The rules don't apply to me. And seems to be getting worse in the last decade or so.

Part of the problem is the absolute expensive garbage rates. Plus, there's nowhere to take a load of trash once in a while unless your dump is local, and takes private citizen's trash. One of the biggest justifications of being indecent is when some other party is indecent to you first. No one keys the CEO's car to just key a car; they key it because he laid them off, or cut their pay.

I saw a news story recently where the number of narcissists have increased dramatically over the past 10-15 years (based on researchers assessments of school children). The narcissists don't follow the rules because they feel the rules are unfair to them personally, so they just ignore them. We have an "it's all about me" generation in the making.

??? Not sure I follow, Maybe you can clarify. So the person who pays for the trash container shouldn't question why someone is using it that is not paying for it and should get his car keyed???
