vin decoder
Hi everyone I had a question I tried using the vin decoders but they say they need 17 characters but my 76 olds only has 13. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.moorer66@yahoo.com
Have you tried this one?

344678M100001
Returns a correct very basic description
1968 442 2-door convertible [not the 4-dr convertible!] made in Lansing MI.
However... nothing else is said.
I guess I sort of expected "You have the #1 car off the line?! You may want to investigate a bit more" or something. I wonder if any of the H/O VIN's get any more detail or excitement at all?
On the bright side, they got the series or model correct at "442"
RockAuto still asks if your '68 442 has the 350, 400, or 455

Yeah - you lost four characters. Better look in the seat cushions for 'em.
GM only used thirteen characters in 1976. 17-character VIN decoders are useless to you.
Try this one.

There will be no vehicle report.
Vehicle reports (CarFax, et al) are only offered for cars with 17-digit VINs.
Nobody even has records of this car, unless it's currently registered, and even then they probably don't go back more than ten or so years.
