No... I was being sarcastic as usual... I would have thought they would have done that on their own, but it is possible it was forgotten about after priming, when the panel started to look like it was original.

The paint is looking good ont he doors and hood! Hope they keep other people's junk off of them now...

Got any days off for the 4th? I am off friday...

I went by the paint shop today. I talked to the shop manager while looking at the car. I pointed out the seam that I munched before and a few other issues with the paint on doors not covering the edges. I told him the painter said he was done with the hood and doors. Jeff the SM said, "They are done when I say they are done." He did not want to go in to the booth to see the seam up close, do to it only being clear coated about 2 hrs before I got there. We will see how it goes from here. But it is about done. Still no price, and the owner stated, "We need to get that to you soon."

NEVER EVER enter into a verbal agreement on a major capital job like you are doing.

The price can triple, and you have no recourse. The shop can place a mechanic's lien on your car until you pay for the work. And, there is nothing you can do about it legally.

ALWAYS have a written contract on:

WHAT will be done
WHO will do it
HOW it will be done
WHEN it will be done
And, you need to address contingenices

PS - My son is a lawyer, and gave me this advice.

I hope you are not sorry.

Here are some photos from today, I just thought I would drop by knowing it would be out of the booth. I found some other issues that they will address before the final walk around. I point them out to the SM, and simply asked, "If it was your car what would you think?" He stated, "Yea, we will have him look at these again."

Carl - looks sweet in fresh paint! Looks like the fenders and hood were put on pretty straight, too.
But did they paint the inner fender wells? Did they do the front stoneshield? Hope they fixed the booboos on the doors.
Did you get your concrete pad at home finished?

The suspense is increasing - keep us posted!

It is over spray, one of the down sides of painting the finders on the car. Which they were not supposed to do.

They will! (when they find them, and the sport mirrors and headlight doors.)

They will, along with a few other issues!

You will be the first one to get a photo in a msg when that bad boy is bolted on. I am in a class now that is two months long, then the clinical another two months. I will try to work on the car on weekends, but class/studying will come first. It could be another month before it is out anyway, lol. I suspect it will be totally done before this Christmas, at least it will be done.

Holler at me when you are ready to do the rear suspension upgrades, as I can give you a hand with it... I need to know how to do the same to Lady. Her cornering manners need improving...

I just put KYB shocks and Hotchkis anti-sway bars on my 68. I'll chime in too when it runs and I get a few miles on it. The motor is going in this week. Sorry about hijacking the thread.

Your welcome on my threads anytime. I read your thread about HP, I could not answer it. But if a 350 olds is getting almost 1 hp per ci, I think that is great. Did not look like many were chiming in on your numbers. I let my motor builder make all my decisions on the 455, that is how much I know about it. Only thing he said about mine was less than 300 hp. I was hoping for 300 with the 750hollie, edelbrock intake, and W/Z exhaust. He said, "It will be close then."

More Tork to you.

I went by this morning to put the bottom of the bench seat in. That way I don't have to weary about them driving it around the shop sitting on a box. Here are some photos of the quarters and the unfinished trunk lid (note the area under the lip of the deck lid). I know it is covered by the chrome trim, but it should be covered. Just like the bottom edges of the doors need to be (re-)done.

Did you figure out what to do about the trunk hinge arms?

If anyone is following this, the car is still at the paint shop. It has been moved several times. Nothing has been done to the car since the last photos were taken. Ho, they did finally shut the trunk lid.
There seams to be some discrepancies about the studs that hold the clips that hold the rear window trim. I say, the studs should have been put in the new panel before they painted. They say, the clips should be put on with window mastic so as not to penetrate the new back panel.
And the saga continues. I know have insurance and tags for the car so I can be as legal as passable when I drive it out of there.
They have acknowledged there are issues to fix, but when I offer to point some out, they say wait until we get it put back together so we can fix it all that the same time. I think, when ever that is?

Car looks great in the pics although I know in person things can be different. I just sued the guy who messed up my small block. It spun a bearing after about 400 miles. He said he wouldn't help me with the rebuild cost. I told him I would "take care of it myself then." I hope this is not part of your paint job. Lookin' Good!

Hope you get it back in time for upcoming fair weather so you can maybe get it reassembled this fall and winter. Glad you have free storage in the meantime.

It is about time they closed the trunk...

It looks good up close, just some issues to fix, and thin coats that did not cover some of the edges.
I got took for a bunch of money 25 yrs ago. He said he was going to rebuild my front end from me XXX$. He did with used parts. I was young and pissed, but I figured what goes around comes around.
I trust the legal way will work out for you. I did not have that option at the time.
Rob is going to help me put the boxed arms and sway bar on if I get the car back by Christmas. I will send photos then.

If any one is interested, they still have the car and have not given me a price. (haha) Yes, I know. Not good. I did call the other day and asked if they were about done? They stated, "We are putting the studs on like you wanted ( for the back glass trim clips.). Is the passenger door on the car yet? "Ha, no it is still on the table." Before you all started kicking my *** let me exlplain. I have six more weeks of school, and I know the car will destracted me from studing. So please take it easy on me. I will be done soon. I do find it hard to believe the car has been painted sence early July. And they have not finished it to get paid.

you just have to understand a body shop's mentality.
it is just a like a garage.

they probably have some insurance work in there right now,and your car gets kicked back a few more weeks.

i cant believe they didnt write you an estimate, but im thinking they are going to want at least 3 grand.

If only 3K, he'd be happier than a pig in mud!!
Him and I figure between 4&5K...

What he is getting is free storage - maybe for the winter!
I am quite surprised the shop has not finished so they can be paid. Yes, they might have some other work int here that is bringing in even more dough...

update

Nov 18, 09'
I know it is hard to believe, they put the passenger door on sometime in the last month. I told them I want the car done by Christmas - I will have some time to put it back together - I hope.
We stated doing a walk around. He said some of the flaws I was pointing out could be buffed out. I said, "what ever, I want it gone." About 3/4 of the way around and 10 faults later, he said he had to go help someone at the front that pulled up. I got in and started the car and set there a min or two. The longer I set there the more pissed I got. I killed the car and left the area.
I have not pushed them in five months. And they walked off to help someone else, I guess it is just me being a sucker.

I am not pissed about the job, but original bolts were missing and some were striped, that was what set me off. Not the time table. We'll see about price. One of the workers said, "I have not been paid on that car yet." I told him, "Marshall, they wanted some money the first month it was here to pay you with, and I gave them twice what they asked for. So, if you have not been paid it is not because of me."

If some one wants to move this to "major disasters", I will understand.

I am finished with the classes I was taking, but still studding for a registry exam. But I am sure the concrete in the back yard is dry by now.

Carl - good to hear from you this afternoon. Price sounds okay - that was my upper limit in my mind as long as they do fic the blemishes later. Got the sway bar on already?? Darn. I was hoping to beat you, but if i had gotten the right one I would have. Time to get the glass in and start driving!
I have a good headliner replacement article in Hemmings MM magazine that might be of any use.
I will have to come by and see it in person!

Sway bar will be going on soon as the head liner is in and while I am waiting for the glass guy for the windshield. You might want to plan next Saturday morning if you want to help.

If not for the sinus infections I have had the past week and a half, I could have lent another couple hands.
Keep it up - it is all down hill from here!
You will be ready to cruise this spring.

I am getting some under side stuff done before I take it back to get the "touch up" done. If the ground ever dries I will take it to have the front end aligned and the safety inspection done. The photos are of the lower boxed control arms ($105) and the anti saw bar (cursitiy of z11375ss).
