There is probably a reason I never packed my wheel bearings on my trailer. I can't stop at a simple task. If everyone remembers a couple weeks ago about me burning up the bearings on my trailer and needing to replace the axles. Well while I was at it all the bushing and bolts in the spring were worn out so that got replaced. While I was servicing my winch I decided I was sick and tired of a 20ft cable on a 18ft trailer. I ordered a new 100ft cable and heck why not a snackblock too. Since I was going that far I picked up a HD roller fairlead from a wrecker store. Now I don't have to worry about how to get my trailer up to an old car that's been stashed behind a barn. I can ****** it from around a corner.

The thing I did I am the most happy about is I no longer have to have the spare in the back on my truck. Chevy truck tire hanger from salvage , a few pieces of scrap, a welder and a drill = hidden spare under the trailer.

You didn't put some 18" wheels and custom machined brakes on it? You're slippin' Richard BTW hope your little ones doing good.

 

Naaah....When you show up to offer money for that old junk car dirty jeans and a ratty looking truck and trailer get the best deals

 

Chequenman and I were tooling down a paved side road pulling his empty car trailer when suddenly the truck lurched and it got a little noisy back at the trailer...when we got her stopped the under truck spare had been magically moved to under the trailer...wrecked the tire but removed a lot of accumulated dust and caked on dirt from the wheel...the wire cable had rusted and let go without even an e-mail advanced warning!!! We were bringing back a '63 98 six window sedan with that trailer and had a flat about a half hour into the return trip...so there we are with that tank sitting on a tilt deck with the spare under the front floor of the trailer...so we have turned into a small park with a few curb stones along side the drive and we kinda borrowed a few to lay on the rear of the trailer deck to get the front up so we could retrieve the spare...so now that spare sits on a rack on the side of the tongue!!

 

I bought one car in Texas years ago, it was as clean on the bottom as it was on the top. I don't think that would be a great idea for a northern state but in Texas that set up looks great. I had to cut the cable on our Chevy truck's spare tire holder because it was so rusted.

Nice work Richard. We know how that goes, one thing leads to another. I am waiting to get my spring shot of adrenaline, trying to time it with the arrival of warmer weather. Lots of chores to do and getting rid of those winter time blues.
