Top 10 Fly By's...WOW
#4
Very cool! I got to experience a few fly by's like this while on Summer Training in MH AFB in Idaho- we would be bivouacking on our M-60 Tanks and they would fly over at night only a couple hundred feet over us. You never forget the awesome sense of speed and plain old power.

In 68, I was stationed at NAS Willow Grove PA. and they had an airshow on base. The crowd had slowly moved farther out onto the tarmac but ignored the warning. All of a sudden an F4 Phantom made a low level pass and hit the after burner right in front of the crowd. No more warning was needed.

I luvs me some flybys..!
That last one left a stripe on the grass !
You wouldn't happen to be thinking of Alain de Cadanet's infamous clip, would you ?
Warning: Language (understandably so...!)
It's a Spitfire, not a P-51....but still sounds glorious...

More oldschool:
P-51 Mustang super low pass - YouTube
There's also a clip of another Mustang coming right ahead behind the speaker's back without him knowing - can't find it right now

Ah the memories. I remember these in the Med. often as a Marine on float. It always started with a Russian Bear doing a low fly by with two F-14's in tow. About half hour later the F-14's would come screaming by the side of the ship just under Mach 1. About blew me out of my shoes but it was badass.
29 Palms also had it's moments while on training there. Those damn A-4's and Harriers would come head on and low and wipe you out before you knew what hit you. Thank God it was an exercise.
Always loved this video and the song 'Walking Low'

I was at an air show in Lakenheath AFB England circa 1977. We were standing on the Tarmac pretty close to a C5 transport and the action in the sky had gotten quiet when the Red Arrows team from France flew in from behind the crowd flat out and lower than the tail of that C5. 10,000 people hit the ground all at one time. Awesome.
