I think many people will be surprised to learn that he was still alive. Hadn't heard much from him in recent years. But, yes, he played Ensign Parker to perfection.

My 9 year old son asked me last week if I knew who Tim Conway was. My response was “Yes, do you know who Tim Conway is?” As it turns out he was the voice for Barnacle Boy on Sponge Bob Square Pants. So even if they didn’t know it the were able to enjoy his humor.

One of the real comedians who made people laugh with no cursing. I heard that he was getting bad a few months ago when an article on MSN.com was saying that he was getting bad enough, by not recognizing people he knew.

He was diagnosed with dementia last year. Unfortunately, there was some family conflict about caring for him, and they had to go to court.

From Wikipedia:

In 2018, Conway was diagnosed with dementia, began using a wheelchair, and had brain surgery. His daughter Kelly and his wife, Charlene, each wanted sole conservatorship over his health. Judge Robert Wada ruled against Kelly since he was in a hospital. In March 2019, his wife was granted conservatorship of Conway

Loved Tim Conway's comedy. He was still filming Carol Burnett Show ads for MeTV until recently. That elephant story sketch is the best, along with the 'old man' sketches. The show would film twice, in front of a morning studio audience and an afternoon audience, and he usually used the afternoon one to ad lib and break up his cast mates.

He was one of my favorites. Most of the time the rest of the cast could not keep their composure. He was in the league of Red Skelton. Dated my self. Rest in Peace Mr. Conway. You will be missed.

Conway was great in the 1996 movie “Dear God” as the mailman relegated to the dead letter office after biting a dog. On the knee.

Early 1960s Cleveland had a live show on Fridays. They played science fiction B movies. It was hosted by "Ghoulardi" Ernie Anderson. Ernie and Tim were buddies plus Tim would write and perform in the skits. They had multiple characters and they were always getting into hot water because of these skits. The story as I remember was Rose Marie (Dick Van Dyke show) was in Cleveland and saw Tim doing parts on the Ghoulardi show. She told Milton Berle about him. Berle brought him out, they tested him for McHales Navy, then Ernie Anderson went out there. Anderson was the voice of "Love Boat" and other stuff. His Son makes movies.
