Thunderbirds

The USAF version...

We traveled to Shaw AFB (Sumter,SC) to see the air show. Lots of vintage war birds, aerobatics, and displays. Several families went in our group and we camped at a nearby state park. Great weekend. A few shots of the T-birds

The F-16 I bet it was a good show. The Blue Angels fly the F-18 they perform at Thunder Over Louisville every year, also a great show.

Did you see any P-51 flying. I love watching the older planes.

There were a couple of P-51's, a P-47, and a B-25. We were caught in traffic but were able to catch to some of their performances from the road. We were in a Jeep so were able to see and hear. I like the old ones too, nothing like those big V12's and radials.

Saw them last year in OC, MD. Was a great show over the beach also watched other planes preform as it was part of a airshow.

Great pics!!! I love the Thunderbirds. I've seen them several times at the Cleveland Airshow. Don't they put on an awesome show? I like the Blue Angels too, but the Thunderbirds better. They flew over the house 3 years ago I believe it was, while they were here for the show. My favorite plane is the A-10 though!!

Thanks for the pics! I love airplanes almost as much as I love Oldsmobile's! On Memorial weekend at Love Field in Dallas, there are two WWII warbirds (B24 flies in from Massachusetts, B17 from Galveston, I think))- a B17 and a B24 that do static displays/tours, and also (for $300/per/person/10 people per flight - helps pay for maintenance, fuel, and OIL, they use/leak a lot of it) you can get a ride out to Greenville (about 40 miles one way) and back in either one of them! I've never done the actual flight, but may try and do it this year. Not getting any younger. Neat thing about it is that their flight path is directly over our house, coming and going. Can hear them coming from afar, and always stop what I'm doing and watch the flyover, and salute them. What brave men flew them.

Thanks Great pics

If anyone is ever in the Pensacola Florida area be sure to vist the Naval Air musem. Are great colection of Naval planes. They got a F4U Corsair down there that looks like it just came out of the box.

I'm reading a book title "Whirlwind" by Barrett Tillman about the war in the pacific that I would reccomend to anyone interested in WW II history.

my first memories of the Thunderbirds are as a child watching them perform while standing in my front yard in Colorado Springs during the late 50s. They were flying F100s. 10 years later I saw F100s performing again, this time without the red, white, and blue paint. This time they were loaded for bear, taking off, headed into harm's way from Phan Rang AFB, RVN.
