A coworker has a Chevy Volt and he tells me those have had multiple battery fires during recharging, even after a factory software “fix”. GM has recommend to not park in the garage due to the fire issue. So folks need to buy a long extension cord so they can charge their cars far enough from the house so if the car catches fire the house won’t burn down with it.

Was this one of the reasons garages were detached and way way back in the yard up to the 50's, and were a good distance away from the house structure?

I think it was because they were converted carriage houses and stank of horse doo doo.
