Tax threat to old cars
Tax threat to old cars
Let's waive the no politics rule for once. This is frightening.

I encourage you all to contact this Senator (and your own Congressmen) to voice your opposition to this misguided money grab.
For some reason this Senator thinks all old car people are fabulously wealthy and sitting on gold mines with our old cars. I gather he's seen auction results and thinks the IRS should be able to tax our old cars at auction results values plus capital gains if one is sold.
Haven't I told y'all all along those damn auctions are bad for the car hobby?
Let these scheissekopfs know that you vote and that you're watching them very closely.

It came out earlier this week thru the AACA legislative watch mail group and you'd think the SAAC groups would be reliable. I was assured it is no joke, but I can't find anything in NYT database on it. I may have jumped the gun.
Still food for thought with revenue-hungry governments looking for anything they can tax. Every locality near here is debating raising taxes on just about everything- real estate, personal property, lodging/meals/entertainment (yes we pay tax on movie tickets and movie rentals here), you name it, they want to tax it.
You can count on it that if this is true and it passes, states will not be far behind. We have to beat back similar legislation in Virginia all the time, and it's always introduced by the House rep from my district.

Well I live here in NY, and I knew this wasn't real when I saw that it only cost $1.50 of the paper, lol, the NYT is like $5.00
Yes he is!
Back in 1993 he suggested that retirement plans (401ks, IRAs) should be taxed at 15%. What a jerk !
If he hates Republians and bad mouths Jews, why did he hang out with Dr. Martin Luther King (yes he was a Republian) and in the mid 1970s, he married Sammy Davis Jr (Jewish) and his Davis's third wife????
Back in 1984 I was not impressed what he said(not worth repeteing), when he was running for presdient.
