After a decent amount of repairs on my Monte Carlo, I drove it to Decatur, IL on Friday and stayed at the house of some friends. I followed them in her Hurst/Olds to Springfield for all of Saturday at the Route 66 Mother Road Festival. This
event is in a 6x6 (or so) closed off streetblocks area around the old capitol, and near the new capitol.
Recovering from a small 2021 event after no 2020 due to the Rona, this event was jammed, some 1500 cars, and about anything you could want. I took pictures of interesting things to me, us, and members here, so we have Oldsmobiles, vans,
Monte Carlos, some little European and Japanese tourers for Tedd, and an army jeep for Jim. My Monte Carlo is the one next to my friend's 84 H/O (as there are several first gen MC's in the pictures.) Also one pic from burnout contest.
Really cool pictures, thanks for sharing! That little car with no doors and a winch is a hoot, I guess he needs the winch to get the thing motivated. Liked so many of the cars, all the Checkers, all the little Opel Kadets were cool. I see Burt Reynolds and Linda Ronstadt were there too. They had something for everyone there. It is encouraging to see that much interest in car shows, it lets us know our hobby isn't dead by any means.
John - Very nice pics! Looks like a great event! Boy, that guy must have spent a fortune for all the chrome under the hood of that red '67 4-4-2!!! Thanks for sharing.
