Here's my 2 cents on the subject. To me, if the rear sits low, then it looks better without, and if the rear is lifted, then it looks better with. To add to this, NO convertible should sit up in the rear...so no wings on 'verts.

Just my opinion...

 

I think that wings have no use unless they provide down force for road racing, that on convertibles hard tops or 4-door sedans. They are just something to look at, kinda like door numbers or foam dice. They are a hold out from another era that no longer fits this style of car. But then again that's jut me...Tedd

 

Oh...now I gotcha...the stripe and the side trim...too much. Either one or the other.

 

Ignorance truly is bliss. Some woman had what she proclaimed to be a 70 W-30 on the hot rod power tour facebook page today idling in a video clip. Thing had a 71 Cutlass S decklid and was painted Rallye 350 yellow, the latter of which, while I am sure a 70 W-30 got ordered with that special paint code, the odds are it started life a totally different color, which also means it probably started life as a base 442 or an S. I realized, though, I was not being asked to critique the car, so I moved onwards without comment.

 

And then there are the tailpipe extensions on this car. You could damn near stick your fist in those things. Spoilers never came on convertibles so that makes it even worse. To me this is just a gaudy looking car.

 

They should have added the W-36 stripe to finish it off

 

Personally I love the wing and the stripes. Screw all you haters.

I thought the stripes along w/ molding were funny. I was wrong. The "Francis" reference is from the movie "Stripes", w/ Bill Murray.

Yeah! I guess the factory had a reason for disallowing certain Option combinations... Who'da thunk it!?

 

Be glad there are no chrome colored door edge guards as well! Ewwwwwww gross.

 

Is it just me? Looks like there is another emblem under the Cutlass emblem.

 

Could be a SX emblem, I think it was born a SX but identifies as W-30

 

It does look like it doesn't it? Paint the car resale red. Add the wrong stripes. Add the towel rack. Keep the worn out top. 🤔 I am sure it is worth every dime.

And maybe a fake spare wheel bump on the back trunk lid, you could make a small one and squeeze it under the wing.

 

Don't like that look for my own taste, but if the owner does, good for him, do what makes you happy.
