Rob - I'm trying to get in touch with you ASAP

My dad got a second chance offer on a nice '72 Vista Cruiser in Hawaii. It needs minor work but is a great driver already...at least in the pictures. Total cost after shipping it to Texas would be about $5900.

I have until Wed. 10 April to take the offer or not. If you are interested I would like you to look at the pictures of the car and decide whether or not you'd like to move on it. Not a big deal to us either way, but we have the funds to get it for you if you decide you want it.

Call me or reply here...

BEWARE OF THE SCAMMERS

especially if the price "includes delivery, don't you worry your pretty little head none over that"

Cash on delivery or a lot can go wrong.

No Western Union, no special escrow web site, nothing like that.

Google "[seller name] fraud" and see if anything pops up.

Chris,

If you look at the "linky" I'd say it's a pretty legit listing

The only issue I have is that all the cars I've seen from Hawaii are so salt saturated and stained, that its almost not worth the trouble. The salt gets into every nook and cranny of the car.

When I was stationed at Fleet Weather Central in Pearl, I owned a 61 Bird that was so rusty you could look up at the sky above the windshield and it didn't have a moon roof.

Hi Steve,
It does look like a good driver, but I really prefer one in better shape on the outside.
The woodgrain on this one is fading and replacing that will possibly end up in a repaint, something I wish not to tackle. Not being able to easily see the car is another issue.
Certainly worth the price he has on it as a driver/project.
I will have to pass this time - but thanks for keeping me in mind.

From the very beginning of this thread I thought your dad was selling his gold Vista. As a result of him not, you owe me a new piggy bank since I had busted mine open already.

The car looks like it is parked in Manoa Valley, or kalihi valley. Both areas are very humid (rains every day). And not all cars are rusty from Hawaii. It would depend on the where the car is in relation to the trade winds.

That's the intel we needed...thanks Joe! Knowing your cars came from Hawaii I had hopes that this might be a decent car. But not being familiar with the area I wasn't sure about it.
