RIP Ed "Isky" Iskenderian

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a7...rian-obituary/

Another automotive performance pioneer, having lived a long and prosperous life making many legends.

I found it interesting that he served in the USAF in WWII, but was not a pilot. I wonder what he did in his capacity, I'm thinking an airplane mechanic? My dad served as a Pathfinder Navigator in France in '44-'45.

I'm surprised Ed was still alive. RIP

"Back in the day" Isky and Engle cams were best for Oldsmobile's. My first cam was an Isky hydraulic for a 394" Oldsmobile in a '38 Chevrolet two door sedan.

A real legend. RIP.
If Wikipedia is correct...

At the U.S. entry into World War II, Iskenderian enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces, and flew supply missions in the Pacific Theatre with the USAAF Air Transport Command.
Possibility he may have been a Flight Engineer, Load Master, or Crew Chief.

I met him at the 2008 Engine Masters challenge. He was a guest speaker…full of stories about how he got started grinding cams for flat heads using a hand grinder,,free handing every lobe.

he hung around the day after with us as my engine got torn down for the photos shoot. He signed the lid of my air breather and got a picture with him standing beside my engine

super nice guy.
