Retiring and moving to Idaho
Well its been a long time since I have been on this forum. Lots of things have changed in my life for the better so now I can get back to the things I enjoy such as all of the people on this site.
I am retiring in a month or two. I bought 5 acres with a nice home and a barn in Rathdrum Idaho. I am having a 36 x 48 shop built, just got the permits and they should start in a week or two. I can then once again resume work on the 48 and finish the 57. Also having a two post lift installed.

Kudos for you! Your plans sound wonderful and I hope you enjoy your new home in Idaho (Washington taxes any reason for moving to Idaho?!!)
And having a nice shop being built! That's great! I wish that could be me right now but I still have to wait a year or two.

Yeah Randy that was a part of it. Traffic, crime where also and issue. The other big plus is what I can get for my paid for house here gives me money to put in the bank which is a big plus. I will post pictures once the shop is built

I am stricken with shop envy...and lift envy....and location envy.
I went to University in N. Idaho and always loved it, particularly the area around Coeur d' Alene. Just couldn't figure out how to make a living in N. Idaho at that time in my life. At that age we chase the money/jobs. I think you made a great move and you're gonna love it. Winter can be long and cold so put a good heat source in that shop along with lots of insulation.

The shop is up
Been very busy buying and selling houses and moving. My wife is in Idaho full time and I am currently living in my Motorhome is Everett, WA. I will be in Idaho full time the 31st of this month. The shop is fantastic. See the attached picture. Nothing it yet, waiting for the garage doors. The two post lift is on order and I will build the Loft mancave during the winter. 200 amp service and gas heat. To say I am a happy man is putting it mildly. Oh and I am retiring when I move as well. Be 70 in December and the shop is my birthday/retirement present. I'll be back in action here again once i settle in

just and update on my shop. Bought a two post lift. it goes in this weekend. A little sheetrock in the loft and back to work on both Olds. Hopefully the motorhome goes in the soon to be attached carport on the side of the shop by the end of summer

Living The Good Life in Idaho
Ha ha, you will be the most popular guy in town with a lift. The shop is looking great. The gas heat was a good decision. I put in propane furnace in mine (no gas out this far in the woods) and I spend a lot more time in the shop because of it and good insulation which I see you've also got. You really retired in style. Anybody who works until age 70 deserves all the good things they saved for.

Well move over, we are signing the papers ( co owners) on a place in Boise on this Thursday. The kids are headed north east It will be a few years before we can move do to other obligations but it's time to get out of California..... Tedd

You'll Like Idaho
Boise is a great town. I lived there from about age 3 to 42. Lots of car activity. Put the Emmett, ID cruise in on your calendar. Its about mid July and 30 mi. from Boise. I drive over from WA. every summer to attend and meet friends there. Lots of smaller shows too.
Boise has really decent weather for that far north but Pat is about 300 mi. north of you in what I have to admit is a more scenic part of the State but his winters are rougher.
How did you come to choose Idaho and Boise in particular?
And, yeah, I'm jealous that I can't just pick up my goodies and move back. Wife's mama is in her 90s and needs her daughters help. No way we'd leave that sweetheart without family support. Meantime I have to live my dream of going back to Idaho through you and Pat.

We also have older family members at home and their health will be a determing factor when we will be free to liquidate and move.... Tedd

Thanks for the positive comments on the shop. Yes its great to see some things on the bucket list come true. North Idaho is a great place as long as you like four seasons and enough space to stretch out. My wife and I have an open door policy.
