I'm still using Windows 7, because the bio updates for upgrading to Windows 8- and 10 isn't happening. I visitted Microsoft's webpage offering the update. They gave me a four-digit number, despite my computer requiring a 5-digit one. So, I just gave up and am running Kaspersky.
Imediately before Microsoft stopped supporting, I bought a DELL laptop out of the internet which hosts Linux. The problem with internet purchases is that you don't see what you get. They booby-trapped it with Google (Spyware) software of which I don't need. Once that's on your computer, have fun trying to get rid of it.
As I was about to upgrade my Linux with additional apps and alternative browsers, the computer automativcally disconnected itself from the internet.
To top it off, it was delivered without an ISDN socket needed for an analog connection to a router. That means unneeded waves of which could be intercepted from a neighbor or car parked outside of the building.
Even if it costs more, it's worth purchasing a computer face to face
I have officially ordered a new computer. This one I am on was my first computer that I got in 2008 and is a Dell with Vista. I could not be happier with this computer. I have had no issues with it other than it no longer will get on some sites, but that is not a problem with it other than just outdated. I hope this new Dell will last as long. Should have it next week.
Question, I have not had an antivirus for several years now and had no problem. With getting a new computer should I get one and what is good to use. Are there good free ones or is it a "get what you pay for" issue?
Not being able to get on some sites has absolutely nothing to do with the operating system. The problem's somewhere else
Could be? I know little to nothing about computers. All I know is I can't get on MeWe or Parler with this computer but can with anything else. I had to switch from Explorer to Chrome about 5 years ago because I had the same problem at that time so maybe it is Chrome is not updated for Vista? Either way, I can't get on some things with this computer any more.
Here's an alternative to Chrome: www.brave.com . The only problem I've ever had with it is when certain sites demand that you shut off Brave's ad-block feature which is easy to do. The ad-block facilitates a faster site connection and video-viewing on Bitchute.
