Racing Nostalgia from St. Louis!
So, I'm sitting at a cruise-in at our local Burger King yesterday evening with my '67 4-4-2, and a gentleman comes up to me and wants to talk about my car. He said he was just about to go through the drive-thru and then saw my car, and he just had to stop and talk because it brought back so many memories. He proceeds to tell me how back in the day (60's) his Uncle used to drag race and was sponsored by Carlson Oldsmobile, which at the time was the largest Oldsmobile dealer in St. Louis. He told me how Carlson gave him a new car every model year and provided other monetary and parts assistance in prepping the car to be run in one of the Super Stock classes. He told me his Uncle set some type of American Hot Rod Association record in the 1/8-mile at Pacific Raceway Park in Pacific, MO in 1966. He said he had pictures of some of his Uncle's cars and his American Hot Rod Association Record, but didn't have them on his phone, but would text them to me when he got home if I was interested in seeing them. I said sure, I'd love to see them if you find them and have the time. Well, he was true to his word, he sent me pics of the '65 and '67 his Uncle raced, and a pic of the Record Certificate. I just thought the whole interaction with this gentleman was pretty cool!

How freaking cool are pictures like these? I absolutely love old true pictures. All these garage queens these days are worthless to me. These are Oldsmobile history. All of these fools and their (excuse the proper spelling) reworked but look it's perfect cars suck to me. I love old and real.

So cool when this happens, often at shows people would come up to me and tell about their 442, Cutlass, Oldsmobile or one their father had. Hard at times to differentiate between fact and BS at times but you got picture proof, so cool!
