"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few."

I am British originally, but now live near Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Here Operation Market Garden is often seen as more important than Overlord, as it was Market Garden that, whilst failing to capture the Rhine crossing as intended, did liberate Eindhoven and the surrounding areas.

A few miles up the road from me is one of many many allied war cemeteries. Every year on Nov 11th (British Remembrance Day) I head over there and just sit, its a very powerful place.

Last summer, for the 70th anniversary of market garden a group of enthusiasts drove the route the forces took from northern Belgium, through Eindhoven, and up to Arnhem and Nijmegen. Lots of american military trucks and vehicles in the parade of 300+ vehicles. There are some pictures that my girlfriend took at:

Wow, that's an awesome sight, thanks for sharing. Your right there were many sacrifices made around the world, and a tremendous loss of life, it was a very trying time.
