Ok i'm stressed

My daughter is getting married on Sat. All the stuff that is going on, I am running around in circles. I am very thankful my daughter and wife are laid back, or it would be much worse. I am also very thankful I like my future son-in-law. It will all be good in the end.

However I could have finished the cutlass very easily with what I have spent.

I feel your pain. Been through a couple of these in the past few years. Your job is to sit back, shut up and open your wallet. Have fun and enjoy the ride.

I have 3 daughters and am buying 3 ladders in hopes they'll elope! College was enough! Still not quite done with that!

While I have never been through this exercise myself, I would only assume that my job in such a situation would be to nod my head and stay the hell out of the way.

I lead a charmed life. Three boys, only had to pay for rehearsal dinners for their weddings. The youngest got married in July, and the bridesmaids colors matched the Super 88 so I was commanded to redo the interior in time for the wedding. Got no arguments or complaints about the cost. Woo Hoo!

Congratulations Larry! My daughter got married back in October, and I too stressed about this issue for sometime. However, when it finally happened I was completely good with everything. I swear that girl grew up to be a beautiful woman in the blink of an eye. Have good New Year.

Back from rehearsal dinner. Mostly good some stress in getting all the bridesmaids together tomorrow but I think all is good now. Relaxing with 3 fingers of a nice single malt.

I mentioned above having gone through three sons' weddings so my view is from the other side of the aisle. Once you hand the bride off, you will finally relax and start taking it all in. Congratulations.

Hopefully Glenfiddich 18 yr. old. Sounds like you deserve the best. A really top notch new son-in-law would have made you a present of it.

The comments here are interesting and reassuring that I'm among a bunch of traditional values guys. I guess it should not be a surprise in an Oldsmobile forum.

A close friend was in your situation, didn't want the hassle of footing the bill and putting up with all the social activities involved so he offered the wanting-to-be-wed couple a deal: "You can have me pay for the wedding or I will set up an investment account in your names for the same amount the wedding will cost."

Smart kids, they took the investment account, did a simple wedding in front of a justice of the peace and thanked Dad for helping secure their financial future.

I figured out why my father in law liked me so much a few years later after me and his daughter eloped.

Wedding was great. Everything went smooth. Try and post some pics in a few days.
