Since my Olds has been out of circulation for a while, getting the transmission overhauled, hopefully correctly this time. I've been working on a new project. 1968 Austin Cooper MkII S. Otherwise known at a Mini Cooper.
The car and I don't quite see eye to eye yet! Working on it.
I thought I was done for a bit, but that's when the heater announced it wanted attention....
A little bit of rust, but manageable. The interior, and underside of the car is done, the front end rebuilt, and a dozen or more other things along the way.....The latest thing is the heater.
I have met Lord Lucas, of darkness, and his 1st knight, Sir Hella. You see, Sir Hella, didn't know that high and low beams are needed for driving. The wiring was truly a thing of ugliness....
Good looking Mini. I nearly bought one several years ago. I loved 'The Italian Job'.
Several ground wars were won & lost on my TR3A. Lucas & Hella could have cared less, in the end I had to remain positive.
They ran in the same class as my Bug Eye Sprite back in the 60s and could clean my clock, embarrassing...Tedd
Tedd,
I blame my high school buddy on me owning this Mini. He sent me a video, and link to the sale, inside an hour I was the new owner. He also has a mini. This "buddy" has had a 1960 Bug Eye since high school. He just recently got it back on the road! Bug Eye's are cool. He still has his, I still have my high school car, 1974 Mercury Capri. V-6. I at least got to drive my HS car every day.
I had a 74 Mercury Capri I bought new in 1974. It was yellow with a 4-speed. Fun little car to drive but it steered like a truck with no PS. It was too small since I had a wife and two small kids. I never see them anywhere. Good looking little cars.
My introduction to Lord Lucas was a right hand drive 1966 MG Midget somewhere around 1970. Had more than one episode of digging around in the wiring under the dash while driving down the road! In his younger days Lord Lucas was known as the Prince of Darkness!

Ohhh....since I'm replacing the heater core, I thought I'd spruce up the heater box. Found out they put the sides together, and pinched the on/off switch wires between the sides and a baffle. it was about worn through the insulation. Then while I was fixing that, the wire from the switch to the motor, pulled right out of the connector.......I'd have gone nuts trying to find both of those.....Yes, when it comes to the royals, I think Lord Lucas is on the rise!! (Notice he's been promoted from prince.)
