Put NOS parts stickers on tired looking parts like those backing plates and watch the bids go crazy.

this stuff makes me wonder what all is still out there. i found a complete 70-2 NOS 8 track radio with the cover, faceplate and even the right and left A/C vent for an 8 track. i offered him $500 and he would not even think about it. this guy don't even have an old car and you would never think he would have something like that.

It is amazing how many fools are parting with their money. I wonder if he will even get paid for them. This is worse than the original fuel pump bolts for $$99.00.

I've noticed lately that alot of people (online, car shows, car auctions, etc) have really been harping on how awesome the 69 camaro is - apparently something about that car in particular make chebby dudes go crazy... (I don't really get it)

For close to 1k a pop, I think I might invest in a press and start stamping my own "NOS" Disc Brake plates

Exclamation

They are only NOS until you bolt them on a car.....

The best approach for this hobby is to refurbish original GM parts.

A nice pair of original backing plates refinished would be about $125.

And that is a very fair offer you made the guy IMO. again, once its on the car who would know its NOS except for you, secondly very few folks can tell those AC vents are specifically for the 8-track cars unless you hack a long non 8 track real bad or crawl under there to look - he should have sold it to you for that price.
