No parade for the Old's
No parade for the Old's
Well we lost our parade event, canceled because of Coronavirus as most have been all over the states this year, I had high hopes of taking the Master of ceremonies for a ride at the head of the parade, but alas it won't happen this year if ever. So... my youngest grand kid is graduating from high school and the ceremony is a drive by affair, no gathering of family other than what you can get in a car. Soooo.... I a'm going to let my daughter take the Mistress (that's my 55 for those who don't know my car by now) and do the drive through the graduation ceremony.I'm a little nervous as she has never driven it and I will not even be in the car, no room, too many kids and parents for poor Grand Dad to hitch a ride. But they all jumped at the opportunity to take it to the ceremony and as far as I can remember this is the first time the major parts of the family have all been together in the car, gotta get some pictures, hope it doesn't rain....... Grand Pa ...Tedd ... Actually Great Grand Pa ... Tedd

You are a good family man Tedd. Just be sure to tell her there is no park and to put it in reverse when she parks it and set the parking brake. I am sure it will be fine and a memorable occasion for all involved. Will be looking for pictures.
I'm going to give her a driving lesson if I can get the car to her a little early. The things I'm worried about is the the way park is found(car in reverse and turn the key off gives you park) and reverse is all the way down on the selector which s strange if you aren't familiar with this era transmission. Brakes are good but not what she is used to I'm sure. She will need to warm up the Old Lady for a few minutes in the morning, she is a bit grumpy till she is hot.
Koda there are no buttons to push ,that's a Mopar thing! And yes there is room in the trunk for two Jimmy Hoffa's with room to spare, but I'll pass. The orator will probably be long wended as they all are and besides at my age I gotta pee on a regular basis.
I told by daughter if you wreck it do a good job it's insured for more than it's worth and I don't need a twisted wrinkled car to salvage at this time of my life....... Hope it doesn't rain forecast is iffee..... Tedd

Good luck Tedd, and have a BLAST. I am sure that every second you spend w/ your grand(?)-daughter teaching her to drive your car will be indelible memories for both of you. Be sure to capture it with photos or video if possible. Kids these day's aren't as "keen" on learning to drive a car like we were. My senior daughter has had her beginner's permit for over 1.5 yrs and is still has a long way to go to get her 50 hours of "practice" in order to take her driving test and get her license. At the end of this week she's done and has no more excuses to not drive me wherever I want. I've let her practice primarily in our 300C, but have let her get familiar with a clutch and stick in my T/A in a parking lot (IMO, sons and daughters MUST know how to drive their drunk date's stick car/truck in case of whatever for their OWN safety). Its going to be another stretch to get her behind the wheel of my Olds, but it is IN THE PLAN!

Well it's my daughter that will be doing the driving, she is a grand mother herself
. Taught her to drive a stick in my Toyota Land Cruiser down by the river, only took her twenty minutes to back the rig down the levie and into the water, clear up to the seats, I was sitting along side of her and couldn't do anything as we entered the water except yell BRAKES! She has improved quite a bit in the last 40 years.
. Kids, they do the darndest things, Can't help but love them...... Tedd
