I've always enjoyed walnuts or pecans in my sweet breads. The blueberries sound like a great touch! Don't forget to leave that nasty clove out of it though.

Wrong on the cloves. The cloves add distinction and are a wonderful addition which compliments the other spices. Did you not like spinach as a child?

Mike - I always loved the VW buses - of any style. My Dad's friend had a 1956 VW Panel Van. It was awesome. I remember going for some rides in it (~1959/1960 or so) - I was seven or eight years old. Of course, during the Hay Day's of Haight-Ashbury and the Love Culture of the '60s, everyone owned one or wanted one. I hope you find one you can own.

Wow that's authentic, the spaced out dude, the fairly ugly hippie chick, and the weird custom art.

My old van is only a Ford, but I like it.

Well, Chris I almost always offer less than the asking price. I would have had the whole $70.00 but I would have probably offered $50 like he did, it never hurts to ask. But it seems funny that if you said no that he wouldn't have said ok, how about $60.00 or, "OK I'll take it for $70." Buying and selling stuff is a pleasure or a PIA. I remember you said when your wife was selling one of her items you said you were asking a amount and would have taken less but the buyer paid the asking price. I'll be honest, to me $70.00 sounds like a price with a cushion built in. Sort of like a car for $10,250.00, that sounds like the seller really wants 10grand and has built in a cushion. I've bought and sold many old cars back in the 80's and 90's and sometimes bought a car for $100.00 that they were asking $750.00, sometime they say yes. I try to never get offended if someone tries to low ball, cuz I do it myself.... BUT, the wierd thing about that guy is why did he travel to your place and not buy a $70.00 item....

Greg - I don't disagree with any of your points. However, I didn't tell the full story yesterday when I posted it. Based on extensive market research by my wife of what is currently out there, we originally posted it for $80. My wife is already a member of all these sales groups for her furniture sales and has the connections already set up on her computer so she did the posting for me. When the guy initially expressed interest online, he asked if we (I) would come down to $70, and I told my wife to tell him yes. He told my wife he would take it for $70, and would come and get it when he got out of work. I was prepared to go as low as $65, or maybe even $60, but he said he would take it for $70. So, with him coming to get it, I finagle it out of the basement, with lots of crap to move that's in the way of getting it out, and move it up to the garage in the pouring rain so he doesn't have to come in the house. Then when he gets here he low ***** us with $50, saying that's all he has, after he had already told us he was going to buy it for $70, when we came down $10 from the original price. As Paul Harvey used to say, "Now you know, the rest of the story."

Hi everyone.

Storms mostly missed me last night, but other areas weren't so fortunate. I guess Newnan was demolished. It's actually nice here now, the sun is out and it's a perfect temperature.

Got out of work around 11 today. Nothing earth shattering. Thought I'd see my Friday friends at the Awful house but they didn't show. This afternoon Tiger and I need to find something to do. It's nice out but everything is a muddy mess.

Might go look at a 95 Chevy pickup this weekend. It's a big block and 5 speed, which I want for a project. The diesel thing eludes me...

Okay have a good afternoon everyone. Much deserved weekend upon us.

Good evening guys,

The infamous "Lawn Roller" is gone, for $70, and not to 'El Jerko from yesterday.

The black table with white stripes and the accompanying two chairs my wife refinished, was redone in gray and antique white, and sold yesterday for $400. It was not getting much interest, and it was going to need just the right person to buy it being black and white. After redoing it in the gray and antique white it sold in less than 24-hours. We delivered it for the elderly lady that bought it because she didn't have anyone to get it for her. Wasn't any big deal, she was only 10-minutes away.

Checked and aired up the tires on the Yamaha this afternoon as I am planning to ride somewhere tomorrow with a projected high of 77. Both tires were about 5 lbs. low after sitting all winter. Not sure yet where and for how long I'm going. I talked to one rider in our subdivision who said he and a couple other guys had talked about going out, he is going to text me in the morning. Not supposed to get above 50 until after 0900, so we'll probably leave around 1000. These guys probably won't ride the kind of mileage I usually do, but it will be more fun riding with a group than riding alone. Plenty of good weather ahead for some marathon rides.

Hope everyone had a great day and has a relaxing evening!

Glad you sold it Chris. You found the right guy, or he found you! Things really go fast on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Last couple things I tried to buy were gone within hours. A old story I remember from when I was dealing in cars that your story kind of reminded me of... I had a 1970Chevy pickup, 350 auto, long box. Not very rusty. But it probably needed a valve job. It missed and idled rough. One Saturday a guy called and came to look at it. He drove it and really chewed my *** out for wasting his time with a piece of **** that ran like crap.... So I decided I was going to look further in to it and probably do the valve job or whatever it needed then sell it after it was fixed.. The ad was still in the paper (remember those) and another guy called on the truck. He came out, drove truck, loved it and bought it for my asking price!
Looks like a beautiful day coming this morning. We are going to a Vietnam Veterans event at the local American Legion Post today, it will be fun. They get a bunch of items donated from local businesses, can be anything from a car wash kit, to a oil painting or cookie mix on and on. They also get lots of coupons or certificates from area bars and restaurants. They put a number on each item with a envelope in front of it, then you buy tickets, put your name and number on them and put them in the envelope of what you want to win. Anyway we went the last 2years, we usually buy about $30.00 of tickets which gives us 60 tickets. Last year for our $30.00 we got $110.00 worth of coupons/gift cards and 2other things the wife wanted!

Greg, your story of the AL reminds me of my growing years. Dad was on the Omaha Beach invasion (Navy amphibious troop transports). Nearly all my uncles on Mom’s side were WWII Vets several were Commanders of their local AL or VFW halls. Weekly we’d head to some hall for fish fry, sales, card game night, or whatever. I spent significant time in those halls and events. Fun growing years for sure.

Good morning everyone.

Overcast but awesome temperature. If the rain will hold off it will be an outside day.

Chris glad you sold the roller. Question. If the guy wouldn't have agreed to the 70 on the phone, would you have taken 50 if he asked when he was there? You sound like me. I have to approve of the buyer, and if I don't like him he's not getting whatever it is I'm selling.

Norm what type of vessel was your dad on that was amphibious?

Greg that's a good story. It proves what Chevy stands for, Cheap Heads Eat Valves Yearly. Yes I drive a lot of Chevy's. Hm, might be time for another blonde man joke...

As far as that ugly girl a few posts up, I think that's the definition of being so ugly it would make a freight train take a dirt road. Neither one of them are winning a beauty pageant any time soon, and that Bus isn't beautiful, either. I've looked at a couple Deadhead Busses that were for sale, and it's a wonder they even hold together.

Okay, good morning at the Awful house, now I'm back and ready for the day. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Mike - The roller had $80 on it in the ad. If we hadn't previously agreed to $70 over the phone, I would have taken $65, or maybe even $60 just to get rid of it. The $50 he was offering was just too low. At the time of the final sale it had over 350 views and +30 saves, and I was pretty sure someone was going to offer me close to what I was asking for it.

Mike - I may be spelling incorrectly - on my phone in the man-cave. Dad was on a converted maritime cargo ship (Mormacyork) - AP-76 Anne Arundel). It was used as a troop transport vessel in WWII. They did a lot of training in Britain then prior to D-Day they staged in Britain prior to their arrival in Normandy along the coast. He said when he wasn’t slinging 50 calibers up to the gunners while underway he had to drive one of the troop transports back & forth onto the beach(es) during landings. I don’t recall the name of the landing craft and/or model numbers. They were amphibious only with regard to their ability to maneuver on land short distances. I think they had metal tracks or some type metal wheels as I recall. Once he ran into a shoreline submerged mine (bomb) returning to the ship in his landing craft. He said it blew him out of the landing craft about 30’ into the air. More information than you asked but he always said how the beach front(s) were a shoreline of blood red.

Dan - I toured that ship some years ago. It was late in the afternoon after I found a motel in Muskegon and unpacked my motorcycle. I was taking the S.S. Badger from Ludington>Manitowoc the following morning to visit family.

Norm, cool, good to know. We have a sub as well a couple of miles away along the channel. The two factions couldn't get along, so they are seperate when it would make more sense to be near one another at the same site. There is a high speed ferry that runs between Muskegon & Milwaukee a couple of times a day. A bit more expensive than the Badger, but faster @ about 35mph. The trip takes 2 1/2 hours rather than the 4 for the Badger. The last time that I was on the Badger was in 1980, when I took my Yamaha 650 Special over to Oostburg, Wi. for a small reunion.

Good morning guys,
It was beautiful here yesterday with a high of 82, but some pretty severe storms rolled in around 6:30 in the evening. Went out for a motorcycle ride by myself for about 3-hours, which was really nice, right up until nearly the end of the ride. At the end of my ride I stopped at a gas station to fill up, and when I was done had my phone out to re-sync my Bluetooth music from my phone to the bike. Guess I must not have got my phone back in my pocket all the way because it fell out about 100 yards down the road and it was destroyed. Luckily, my wife's old phone is just like the one of mine that was destroyed, and I put my SIM card in it and it works, but my contact list was not retained on the card. Ugh!!! I also had several pictures that I only had on the phone that I lost because I was too stupid to back them up to another location! Ugh, live and learn, the hard way!!!

Well, I hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone.

It was almost surreal. I stepped out of the house this morning and everything was yellow. I mean really yellow. The pollen went into overdrive over night I think. Oddly enough I'm not sneezing like a fool or stuffed up or coughing. Usually this stuff knocks me on my butt. I'm not complaining.

We went to bed sort of early last night, so Tiger wanted to go out around 530 this morning. I woke up again at a quarter after 7 and thought, I think I'll sleep in today and forego the Awful house. About a quarter to 8 Tiger has heard something in the yard and is all hot and bothered to go out and get it. So I thought what the heck. Got ready to go while he was outside and then we went to the Awful house. Wasn't there very long but had a nice visit.

Norm I thought maybe he was on a DUKW. The Navy didn't really use them but they had a few.

Worked on the Corvair a little yesterday but I'm at a standstill, I need some hardware to finish up. I'll get that at work tomorrow. Kinda looks like rain so I'm not in a hurry to start another big project outside. I've got a few little things to putter around with.

Okay! Have a good day everyone.

Mike - Good luck finishing up the Corvair! It sucks when you're almost done with a project or repair and you're missing only a part or two.

I just finished a complete tear-down of my Husqvarna 223L grass/weed trimmer (3 hrs). It slowly died from I believe fuel starvation yesterday although I can’t be certain of the issue. It certainly needed a complete tear-down though. I couldn’t find any discernible issues. I tore everything down except for the carburetor internals and the engine internals. Of course now it won’t start at all - just my luck. It may be flooded - hopefully. I’ll see how it plays out before I order a new carburetor and/or ignition coil.

Alrighty then. The trimmer fired right up. Had to have been flooded. No less than five times on the same page does it state the carburetor fine adjustment should be carried out by a qualified/skilled person/technician. I think I’ve owned this trimmer about 8-9 years - I’m calling myself qualified at this point in time!

Chris, No damage it's about and inch below the deck. Really nothing to hurt if it came above the deck. All electrical outlets ar 48" high and nothing sits [is stored] on the flor. Everything is on shelves or hooks
