The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Morning all!
Paul I like the updated sig. You must like blue
Adrian stay cool up and send some of that heat this way. Right now it's -12c. I'm getting ready to go plow and we have a chance for more tomorrow.
Sandy, Hope you made the best of it. Hope your storm teats as well as possible.
Mike the truck is nice. I need to put a t-stat in it, and it could use tires. They would be fine for summer but they are lacking now that its winter. Good to hear you had a good time with your mom.
Jamesbo, the year and festivities aren't over, yet.
Well I'm fasting till noon. So I'm gonna ignore any food references. Gotta go see the doc today. Not really lookin forward to it.
But it has been a while and altho I feel ok, I'm not getting any younger.
Have a great humpday Olds friends.

Morning All!
Well we have some light snow flurries falling now, temps in the 20's. They said if anyone has to be out today, the best time is before 10 am. The snow is gonna start getting worse. I brought my boots in with me so I can wear them home, lol.
I left early and stopped at Giant Eagle on my way in, and CVS. Picked up a few things. I was going to go out at lunch time, but it's supposed to be ugly out by then. I called and canceled the appt at the Toyota dealer tonight. I'm not going out in the crap.
Clay is off until next Wednesday, so it's real quiet in here.
A lot of places are shut down until after New Year's. It's gonna be a long 3 days this week. Brian said they left 2ish on Friday, so that's 3 hrs. comp time I will have to use.
Jamesbo..... you made me laugh!
Yep, I'm sure I've talked to you more than I have Larry in the past few years, lol! It's awful, isn't it?? Glad you survived the in-laws and out laws, lol. All done for now....
Clint.... hope all goes well at the doc's for you! Don't let them tell you you have a swelled up kidney, lol!
Paul.... the new sig pic is great!
Well have a good hump day all and stay safe if you get the bad weather in your area.

Good morning all
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. Today I turned 67, feels weird, from the inside looking out I feel the same as when I bought my first car, well a truck actually. A 1948 ford. First in my sophomore class to drive to school. Boy was I popular with my peers for a short time. Good thing too as that truck needed a lot of push starts. I feel lucky to have a great Family, good friends and good health, and with a little luck several more years to enjoy more of the same. Now I gotta get that 48 done. have a great day all.
Good morning everyone.
Pat Happy Birthday. I'm with you, every year I think, how did I get to be this old, I still feel like I'm in high school. Hope you still have some whoop in you after Christmas.
I got up this morning around 8 for the dogs, and it was almost 60. Now it is 49. The wind has picked up quite a bit and I fear we've seen our high for the day, for the week.
I was almost minus one dog last night. I was next door having dinner and it started to thunder. I excused myself and came home. What I found was my boy had gone downstairs and chose a box to chew the corner off of and try to pull out whatever was in it. That turned out to be a huge banner made out of some felt-like material that said "Black and Decker" that was my Dad's. I don't know why he had it but it was in perfect shape. He probably got if from one of his conventions. I didn't have to say a word and my boy was hiding for the rest of the evening. I don't know why they do stuff like that. My girl will go in the bathroom and climb up on the vanity. Go figure that one.
Paul the sig picture looks much better. Dark blue I think is the best color for a car. Usually my favorite color is green, but on a car, dark blue is it.
Clint good luck at the doctor. My truck has the same sort of tires, okay for dry pavement but marginal for wet.
Guess I'll think about some lunch. Jeff I think the stores quit stocking egg nog about a week before Christmas so they aren't stuck with it afterward. Heck I'd drink it all year.
Work tonight. Been off 11 days, they might have to retrain me.

Good Afternoon Oldsmofriends
I hope everyone had a great Christmas! We had a wet one, but all in all it was wondermous
Like Jamesbo said it was warm and windy, but now it is cool and windier.
We are under a wind advisory until 10 pm
Happy 67th Birthday Pat
I hope you have a good one

I also would drink Egg Nog year round
I shoulda went to the Diary down the street instead of all over to the different grocery stores.. I would likely have gotten it in one stop.
Happy Birthday Citcapp!!
Hope it's a wonderful day for you!
It started snowing heavier around 10:00, and we have probably close to 4 inches so far out here.
It was pretty windy earlier too. From what I hear, the worst is yet to come. I don't know. I don't like it!!!!
Brian went out at lunch and came back here to eat and he said it was getting slick then. Not looking forward to driving in the crap tonight. Have I ever mentioned that I hate snow?

Howdy, all....
Really nasty up in N. GA mountains; temperature dropping like the country off the fiscal cliff; 34 now w/ snow flurries and constant drizzle. Not conducive to hiking!
We'll have to be content w/ indoor activities for the time being. Glad everyone lived thru Christmas and the festivities. Way to hang in there, Jamesbo.... we knew you could do it.... However, the most fun the supermodel has all year long is the 8 hours of sibling gossip the day after the get-together...
God forbid you should take that away from them
Enjoy the Christmas season, everyone.
------------------------------------------
p.s.: Happy birthday, Pat! (almost belated). And Adrian, as long as we're up here, that's the most important thing
. I heard Ponchatoula had some pretty hairy weather last day or two, as well....

Happy Birthday Pat, hope you have a wonderful day and here's to many more.
Weather here is very muggy but also very overcast, good combo for a thunder storm
It's nice having some time off work isn't it Mike
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a safe new years.
I would love to swap weather with you Clint, I just love the snow ever since I went holidaying in New Zealand.
Hope the weather isn't too bad for you John.
Can't wait to see some progress pics of the 48 Pat. Shouldn't be too far off now right
Have a great day olds pals

Evenin' all.
The wind is a-howling and it's colder than a witches, well, you know. And it's not even February.
First night of work. Yes Adrian, being off work is nice. But when I get there tonight it will be like I never left, with the exception of learning all the new self-imposed rules the leads have thought up.
Jeff I love buying tires. Weird I know. I don't do it very often because I buy expensive ones. The last tires I bought were for my Suburban and they were about 800 bucks maybe more. I bought some expensive Michelins for my Saturn and the guy looked at me like I was nuts. Too bad, it rides nice.
Pat I haven't ever seen pictures of your 48, or the 57 for that matter, have you ever posted any or have an album? I think the 57 Olds is way better looking than the other offerings(and I have a 57 Chev).
Sandy hope you got home okay through all that snow. Is Tincanio a 4x4?
Okay time to git. Have a nice evening everyone.

Well, Boxing Day is over I guess
Not like I wanted to go anywhere and fight with the crowds for parking spots or to stand in line. With all the pre Christmas (early Boxing Day and Black Friday) sales that have been on there's really nothing that's worth spending money on. Made my contribution to the economy already this year. Next year will be more o the same with more work planned for the car.
Mike - The OBD II kicked out 2 codes for the Saturn. P0141 and P1406. The first one is for the rear 02 sensor, and the second one is for a sticking EGR pintle. Easy fixes and I cleared the Check Engine light. That is truly a handy gadget to have. It already paid for itself in 1 use. Huh, all this time I thought it was the front 02 sensor being the problem. But that sticking EGR pintle also explained the slight surging in idle speed. Cheaper to clean the EGR than replace it. All I needed was a new gasket.
Adrian - Seriously?? I'd swap weather with you anyday. What the peeps in GA and OH are complaining about is nothing. I've got snow over a meter deep all over the lawn and huge windrows on the streets from where the plows left them.
John - I just watched some Swamp People episodes on the Holiday Marathon and thought about you. Even your cold days are better than some of our summer days.
Clint - keep them jokes rolling. I don't post a lot of them racy ones much anymore since someone on the site complained about it and one of the mods asked me to retract it. Strange, it wasn't any worse than any of the ones already posted.
Jamesbo - go git dat wood piled dup. I expects y'all jess needs a place ta keepit owdda da rain so its notso soggy n hard ta light. Ifn' y'all has trubble lightin it take it in to da supermodel an tell her ta holdit till it burst inta fire. Den ya winks atter an says "I allays knowed yew was hot stuff".

Good morning everyone. Got out early. I couldn't tell you the last time I got out this early. Anyway I'll take it because I found out this is my long week and I have to work Saturday. Great.
Jamesbo I heard on the radio on the way home that you're converting the green cemetery into a monkey farm.
Good on you Allan for fixing the Saturn. That is one magic tool. When I had my car scanned at Advance Auto the woman just said it was the oxygen sensor. I didn't know there were two of them until the guy at NAPA told me so. Having worked at an auto parts store and hating when people didn't know what they had, I was embarrassed that I didn't know what I needed, so I told the guy, since I don't know what I need give me both of them. Luckily he only had the front one(the cheeper of the two) and that solved the problem.
Okay off to bed with me. It was a cold, windy night but no snow, and I feel for anyone who has to put up with all that. Adrian keep wishing for snow, you know not what you are asking for.
Have a great day everyone.

Morning All!
Much easier driving to work this morning than it was going home last night! We got about 8 inches of snow, it didn't blow and drift as much as they thought it might. Roads were a horrible mess though, last night. Wasn't much traffic so that was nice. It's just cloudy out right now and in the 20's. 91 was clear and wet.
Mike.... Yes, Tincanio is a 4 wheel drive. It has this "LOCK" button you push which I guess engages the 4 wheel drive, but it goes off if you get above 20 mph or something like that. I don't know that I would call that 4 wheel drive, lol. I'd rather have something I put in 4 wheel drive and it stays there until I take it out!!
It's quiet in here again.
I was over here dozing yesterday afternoon, lol.
We have a new Panera Bread opening here in Twinsburg today. I tried to get Nicole to apply for a job there a couple months ago, but she didn't. She loves that place. She got 4 gift cards for Christmas, lol. I like it too. They have really good food and it's always fresh. They are expensive though. I love their broccoli soup. I always get the soup and half sandwich. They give you a bagette too, so that's plenty for me. I plan on eating there tomorrow night.
I'm sure Nicole will go today sometime.
Jamesbo.... you gonna be raising monkeys now, lol?
Have a good day all.

Well I am not to Pleased with Discount tires right now.. but I am not done yet. I called the Regional offices and I am going to plead my case with them. On 9/13/12 I bought the tires. I gave them 430. I have 6100 miles on them I am down to 5/32 tread depth and with no Mileage warranty (now I find out after the fact) the store offered me $100 off the purchase of a nice new set of tires (Different brand of course) which my cost will end up being 400. Not much of a savings in my mind. So I am waiting for a regional rep to call me back today. I stopped in at the locally Super wally world got a price on a set of tires.. would cost me my $430 again from there, I will be sure to mention that to the Regional rep when I talk to them today.
and I (sorry Sandy, close your eyes) Love the snow.. We got another 4" of the stuff overnight. made for a nice slow drive in this am on my aforementioned lousy tires. I also like snowy nights as my part time job we are busier on "snow days" and I make more money.
I Was going to add a picture I took this AM.. but.. I am having photobucket issues..

Good morning all
No snow here, but we are into our 75th day of steady rain. yep we passed the 40 days and 40 nights a long time ago. Had heavy snow on one of our mountain passes last weekend and the tree's started falling like matchsticks. One tree fell on a car killing the Mom and dad in the front seat, the kids in the back survived. The news stated the trees fell because of the heavy wet snow and the ground being so soft from the rain that the roots did not hold. Makes me think about the 3-125'+ trees within 15' of my house.
They have stood for the 45 years I have lived here so I guess why worry.
Have a great day all

Mornin', all...
Man, Jef, you guys did get pounded...
Was looking at some pic's of Indy on morning news... even those guys aren't used to what they got. We did get quite a nice dusting of the white stuff last night; it got down to about 26 or so up here, so what fell pretty much stayed. Added a nice wintry look to things
Sorry to hear of your bad experience w/ Discount Tire. But whatever you do, steer clear of Tire Kingdom. I could write a book, but I'll leave it at that.
Allan, you're right; I'm not envious! My wife moved down here from Peoria just 'cause she hates cold weather. The N.O. area usually gets some chilly weather each year, but it's in a different league from you and most of our more northern bretheren. You and Sandy need to join the Swamp People Fan Club.
My grandfather was a real 'swamp person.' But I guess the apple fell far from the tree a couple times.
Jamesbo, we were slugs yesterday; I ventured to the Wally World and Home Despot in Blairsville just to keep from getting cabin fever. There was a little traffic mishap on 76 right by the Wally entrance; so that reminded me to be extra careful on the slick roads.
We're headed up to Jackrabbit Trail near Hayesville, NC, this afternoon to log a few miles to make up for our sloth yesterday.... and also for compensate for the way we've been putting away the groceries....
. Don't miss many meals up here
. We did a standing rib roast for Christmas and will probably have our third and final meal on it tonight. It was fab, I must say. So much garlic, we won't have to worry about the vampires for a while.....
Also had mashed taters, green-bean casserole, green peas, and fresh cauli w/ cheese sauce for good measure.
Y'all have a great Thursday, folks.
p.s.: does anybody else get weak when he or she sees a pristine '66 Toro for sale? I've always loved 'em. There's a red one on Flea Bay right now that I could really fit into the garage easily

And of course now I can't find it anywhere. They said a guy in Milton has a huge tract of land and he wants to convert it into some sort of wildlife/primate sanctuary. The neighbors are all up in arms because they said monkeys smell, they make loud screaming noises, and have herpes.
You know there used to be a Wild Country Safari around here somewhere. I heard when the place closed they couldn't catch all the animals so they just took the fences down and let them be. Odd.

Nippy, but the wind's subsided finally here in da' hills. It's 31, but prolly in 20s at "street level."
Today it's window blinds installation day....had a few windows we never did put blinds up, to that's my task today. Might even wash the Fusion....
not that it needs it

The better half had bought some ground bison a while back; think I'm gonna' put together a little bison meatloaf tonite...

Y'all have a great Friday.

Morning All!
Cloudy and cold here, that's about it. Our parking lot is a mess of frozen rutted ice out here. I've never seen a place before that has such crappy snow removal and doesn't use salt. The landlord is very very cheap....... we have another 1 - 2" of snow coming tomorrow.
I'm glad it's Friday. Been a long 3 day week, lol. It will only be Brian and I here on Monday. Steve and Clay will be off.
I will be glad to see 2012 go out.
I'm having that stupid 'gas' pain or whatever it is, again. It started yesterday I noticed. Right under my breast bone and it just radiates everywhere. It's still here this morning. I took a Prilosec around 7:30, so I'll see if it helps any. I'm not going to mention it to any friggin doctors again, that's for sure. Guess they can't blame it on my 'swollen kidney' this time, since it's supposedly not swollen anymore... I'll suffer through it.
Well Larry won $340 on the "Rolling Cash 5" lottery ticket last night!
One number away from $150,000.... So I think I'll call Conrads and get the brakes put on Tincanio, since we split the money. Gotta price tires there, and at Defer. I think it's kind of dumb to only put 2 new tires on a vehicle. I'd rather spend the money and get all 4 so they all wear even and such.
Larry has started talking a little to Nicole again, getting a little friendlier. It won't last, but I'll enjoy it while it's here, lol.
Jamesbo... I never had fried grits. My sister Jean likes fried mush... I prefer it made like a cereal.

John you own a Ferd? Isn't that Blasphemy on here? Don't tell, But it looks like czyjef has a Ferd too.Jamesbo, That Brekkie sure sounds good. I'll come back home after my Dentist appointment and make something to eat. Don't feel like eatin before going to the mouth doc.
Mike, What does herpes have to do with anything? What are your neighbors planning to do with the monkeys?

Jef, Doesn't your Discount have a big plate window?
Sorry about the bad tires. My new truck has a tire size that is getting real hard to find anymore. Which is a surprise since there are soo many rangers out there that use it. P265/75R15. Out of my 4 warehouses, I have 7 different tires to choose from not including snow tires. I really don't want to put an LT on there. I like the Geolandar HTS but will probably go with this as its a little more aggressive.
Looks like it may cup badly like the Geolandar AT-S' did tho. Its a similar tread pattern.John. I have to replace the guts in the Mrs. toilet today. It seems to be running off and on. The rust wreaks havoc on those stupid valves. I had to crawl around under the deck yesterday and get the hot tub working yesterday. It wouldn't heat and the control panel LCD is out, so I cant really see whats going on. I got it working again now that it looks like we may see above freezing temps again.
Happy belated Pat.

Allan, I haven't gotten any nasty notes yet, so Game on!
Sandy, Good to hear there's a little peace at the house. I hope it lasts til summer.
Have a great day all.
I had a chat yesterday with an Assistant store manager - not someone from Corporate offices call me back.. he did sweeten the offer some. the price is better $278 for 4 tires or 348 with their "road hazzard warranty" I may try to call or stop by the regional offices today on my way home from work to see if I can get a better deal. Yes they do have a large glass window... but I don't want to drive around on 3 tires.. makes it really hard.. and unless I am that little ol lady don't think the local officers will take kindly to it..
Yes Clint.. I do have Ferd.. it is my daily driver.. when I had to replace it in September I couldn't find an olds that fit my needs and budget. I also have a Chebby and a Dodge as well.. 3 vehicles. 2 lisenced drivers.. the Chebby pulls the trailer and is currently hiding in the garage out of the snow.. and the Dodge is the Family Hauler. - otherwise known to some as a Minivan..

TGIF Oldsmofriends
It's a bit chilly here but at least the wind has subsided. I guess we are in store for more rain this weekend
Everyone had a wonderful Christmas
The middle daughter got an airbrush setup since she is the artist of the fambly. She has a lot to learn but she done really well for the 10 mins we practiced between the wind and rain.
I guess the weather is trying to make up for November since we didn't get much rain then
I remember Wild Country Safari, it was pretty cool. Not sure when it closed but like everything else, it becomes a fad and then dies off. I have several pics and 8mm films around here somewhere of that place. Here is
of that place (not mine).

Hey everyone.
Clint they aren't my neighbor's, they are Jamesbo's. And that was a quote from the newscast, as to why they were against having monkeys in the neighborhood. I can think of a few other things monkeys do that are a tad unsavory for the public, but I'm not part of the arguement. I think it's pretty funny, though.
Sandy did I ask you before if you had gall stones? Once in a while I get a weird gas-like pain under my ribs, and it radiates everywhere. "By accident" my doctor found I had gall stones. After that the pains went away and he said if I don't have any more symptoms don't worry about it.
Jef I own a Ford as well. A 1966 Lincoln Continental. I've also owned a 1959 Skyliner and a 97 Escort. I really liked the Escort but its mileage went from 38 down to 27 and the Ford people couldn't tell me why. So it was down the road, as it were.
Scot what were you airbrushing outside, the Xterra?
When I moved into my house every window had horizontal blinds. I can't stand them so I took them all down. Most have been replaced with curtains but for the others I'm going to build Bermuda shutters for the outside.
Time for bed. Work wasn't a back breaker last night but long. Happy Friday everyone and I hope you have a great day.

Mike,
This is actually my 2nd ford..
I previously had a 1994 Escort I was getting a consistant 30 MPG city.. it was a good car.. til the transmission decided to crumble on me while driving down the road.
I replaced it with an 05 Focus.. the focus is getting a consistant 24 mpg city
and I am needing the tires on the Focus.

The middle girl was airbrushing all the leftover cardboard boxes from Christmas with the Sparticaii cast
She also got plenty of shirts (plain white tees) to practice on. She is quite the artist and she drew this awhile back

The Xterra belongs to the eldest that is finally realizing that I was right about the gas mileage
It's what she wanted but the trek from Statesboro and back is about a wallet buster

Afta noon all ya non winterized peoples....
Jamesbo - I kin hardly b'leve ya gots no leeves on de trees. We still gots em (leeves n trees) but de was flash froze whn de cold spell hit so we gots sum stuff y'all don like and still gots leeves. Looks kinda unnacheral outtaplace ifn ya know whut I meen?
crzyjeff - That's what up here would be called a 'good start' with the snow. LMK when it gets like ours...
Right side of driveway - piled almost 4 feet high. That's with a snowblower too, so its solid and you can walk on top of it. Also got some good size cornices over the porch.

Somewhere under that 10" of packed snow/ice is a roadway. As you can see the windrows left by the plows 2 storms ago is piled up on the sides still. They won't remove it either. But they did come in with a bobcat and unbury the fire hydrants. Reduces the road width by almost 10 ft. Richard has a plow on his truck but will only clear in front of his place.

Bryan - don't be in a big hurry to let Old Age set in. You could end up like Jamesbo.... Don't rely on puters to know what day it is. Since I retired I took off my watch and never missed it. I remember the days by the special events I've attached to them... for example:
Monday: make sure I wake up on either the green side or white side of the dirt
Tuesday - Sunday: Follow the rule of Monday
Some days are really nice to sleep in till around 8:00. Most of the time I'm up around 5:45 or so and then I have to be quiet so's not to disturb those who don't know when 'mawnin' really starts.
Scot - looks like you have a budding artist there
John - You transplanted from N.O.?? Can't imagine why...
Paul - Forgot to mention thumbs up on the new sig pic. I saw on the news last night and this morning how Toronto was being 'hammered' by ol man winter. Won't stay around long there I think with all the salt the MOT puts down. Was really impressed to see that convoy of around 16 plow trucks working the 401 at the same time. Now THAT's how you do it right the first time.
Mike - about the only Blue Oval I ever owned was a 78 F250. It was bullet proof. Started and ran even in the coldest winter. Didn't need a heater because the trans hump used to get plenty hot. Got 15 mpg with it in the city, hwy loaded or unloaded. It was a really great pickup. Never should have sold it. I really liked the dual tanks but that would be like taking out a mortgage to fill nowadays. (we buy gas in litres and that would be 180 litres at 1.06/litre right now)
Clint - have fun with that plumbing. Seems like you get all the $hitty jobs around the house...I need to buy new tires for the wifes car in the spring but it has smaller 14" that are very common so the $$ shouldn't be horrendous. Not sure what brand yet. Any suggestions for a 175/70/14?
