I so ABSOLUTELY despise and hate cable companies. When I grew up we dialed in every single football game, hockey game, baseball game, etc. for FREE using a rooftop antenna. My Dad is truly kicking his feet 6' under he's most likely so F'ing pissed at the state of our broadcast networks. I spent most of my youth listening to games on one of these...

The "Commanders" is such a lame name they couldn't even come up with a decent logo to put on their helmets, instead they just put the players jersey numbers on there!

Ditto . . . Loved your comment about the rooftop antenna. Ours was on a tall poll. We had a mechanized rotor for it named Chris. Chris didn't like to work sometimes in the Winter.

We had rooftop antennas - the original variety attached to a roof tripod. Then came the "mechanical" directional movement type situated on top of a tall pole. This evolved to the electric indoor switch you could rotate.

Could you vote at your "tall poll"?

Here I am! Boy it's been like a vacation from everything being home every day. Not sure when I go back to work. I bet after being gone 6 weeks they are saying Mike who.

That's sad hearing about Dick Butkus. He was a big name when I was a kid, always in the news. Always bigger than life.

Jamesbo how's it going with the Vista? I need to find something for a daily driver. I've been driving the blue van around but I think it's getting ready to go tango uniform. So far the black pickup is out and I have lighting trouble with the Chevy. I hate to drive that new Cadillac too much and get it messed up and stack the miles on it.

Been absolutely gorgeous here for weeks. And it will continue through next week at least. Love it. Time to man up and get some yardwork done, as well as I need to paint in the house, do work on the cars, geez I haven't done anything at my house for months.

Okay gotta get ready for Green Acres. I bought my Lincoln because I liked the one Mr. Douglas drives. His is nicer. Have a good evening everyone.

There's Mike. Good to see you're back. That '65 Lincoln was a sport'n fine automobile. Eva Gabor was hot. I used to watch Petticoat Junction during the same time period - I was 14 years old & those babes were hot.

Mike - Great to hear from you and glad you're doing OK! I'm surprised that instead of the Lincoln that you didn't buy a big 60's Mopar B-body convertible like Miss Jane?

Norm - Eva, and the Petticoat Junction gals were hot, but ya sure can't leave Ellie Mae out of the mix. Sure would have been nice going for a dip with her in the Cement Pond!

Glad to hear from ya, Mike. Yep there were lots of good lookin' babes on the tube in the 60's. Jeanie, Samantha, Mary Ann and Ginger, on and on. Really weird I had a huge crush on the cruise director on the Love Boat, Which was much later, maybe even in the 80's. Now I can't even remember her name....

Good morning everyone.

Overcast but pleasant. Gonna do some painting in the kitchen today.

Chris Miss Jane started out driving a Dart for most of the show, then drove a Coronet. Always bright red. What I did do is buy a 62 Imperial just like Mr. Drysdale's. Funny, they got new cars every year. Over on the A Body Plymouth website there was a discussion about where Doris Day's Barracuda convertible is these days. Mr. Douglas also got a new car every year, he started with a 66 Lincoln and after 67, got a Mercury. Funny, as backwoods as Hooterville was, that they'd have a Lincoln dealer. I don't think they ever showed his car with the top up, dahling.

I guess this is what retirement feels like. Imagine, being retired and living with your mother. Oy, I gotta get back home. It's been a positive experiece staying here, Mom is johnny on the spot with anything I need. And it's nice to have company. Tiger is always around but he doesn't talk. Really, when I'm sick there isn't anyone I'd rather take care of me than my mommy.

Okay lunch then to make a big mess. The kitchen is yellow, and I'm repainting the same color. When the new door and window were put in, it left big patches of sanded compound that are growing on my nerves. I want the place to look nice again, so I'm finally getting to it.

Okay everyone have a good day.

I thought he began w/ a '65? What do I know - I guess the Internet has it wrong, also. You can't trust anything you read any longer.

Norm you got me. You are absolutely right. You had me second guessing myself so I looked it up. Green Acres started in September of 65, and I assumed Ford gave them the latest and greatest, as they were just ready to come out. But the picture in your link is clearly a 65, but still in that same awful color. Shows what I know.

Still haven't had lunch. Been caught up looking at the internet. After looking at Green Acres, the might as well look at this syndrome came up. Guess what. My tummy is growling so lunch is now. Bye.

Got my new SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) vaccine,
Got mine yesterday along with the flu shot. They offered them at my workplace, so I took them up on it. Funny, I was at the Dr.s office two weeks ago, and they were unable to get them yet. Ah, yes, shows with the gals and cars in them from our youth. Bewitched frequenty featured new bowties, as that was one of thier sponsors.

Jim - Great picture. Such a beautiful retreat from the grid iron, eh?

Dan - I got my flu shot the week before.

Mike - The Holmes brothers went to my H.S. Jimmy Holmes, Jr. (obviously the son of Jimmy Holmes, Sr.) bought a 1965 black (gorgeous) Lincoln Continental convertible sometime around 1969. Jimmy was several years older than me, but whenever you saw him he had a bevy of beaver in that car.

Norm you got me again. I was watching Green Acres this evening and they showed Mr. Douglas driving in the rain in his car with the top up. I never would have guessed it.

I don't know who any of the Holmes people are, aside from Mike Holmes of Canada, and the spoiled Tribune wants a subscription to read anything online.

Jimmy Holmes, Sr. was a professional clothier who had his start in downtown Chicago, then moved to the Fox River Valley with clothing stores in Aurora, Geneva, St. Charles and Elgin where he raised his children with his wife. His sons, Jimmy Jr., Gerald & John went to my H.S. in Elgin, I’ll; St. Edward’s. I know that Mike Holmes guy he’s the builder dude right?

Hi everyone.

I think summer has done left us. Not sure it cracked 70 today, and I think highs of 80 next week. No rain in sight. That's worth the price of admission right there.

Mom and I have been cleaning up in the front of the house a little. I backed the van up and we loaded it with scrap metal and firewood. Then I took it to my house and threw it out into other piles. Not sure the place looks better, but it does look different. Gonna load up some more stuff tomorrow.

Wish one of us lived in Florida. There's a car in Deltona I'd be interested in, but I can't get to Deltona. This being without a truck is a pain. Although driving the truck might give me a pain, so who knows.

Okay early to bed. At least what I've become accustomed to as early. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Norm, can you opt out of Jury duty? We can in Mi. at age 69. Went from summer to fall in a couple of days. We had mid 70's last weekend, low 80's Monday through weds., and now mid 50's, with a high tomorrow in the 40's. Also had 2.512" of rain Friday night. Rain predicted later in the week into the weekend, which will kill the last car show of the year up in Pentwater, Mi. (Octoberfest).

Dan, from my Jury Summons notice:

"I am 72 years of age or older and wish to claim an exemption from jury service for good cause. Explain your reason below."

I'm 71 years of age so I missed it by one year in North Carolina. Next year my reason will be..."interferes with golf".

Mike - Good to hear your recuperation is going well and you can get out and do light duty stuff. Fall is definitely here too, got down to 38° this morning. I've got the gas fireplace going in the living room to take the chill off.

Hi everyone.

Chilly here this morning. When I got up Mom told me she tried to get the furnace to come on but it wouldn't. I said, that's because the gas was turned off in the spring. So I guess I'll call them tomorrow and have it turned back on. Easy enough.

I think I'll take it easy this afternoon. About a week ago I pulled a muscle in my back and it goes from zero to excruciating back to zero. I don't want to take the good pain medicine because then I can't drive. Tylenol doesn't do much. I suppose someone digging around back there has stirred things up a bit and it's harder to heal. I'll just sit with the heating pad for a little while and see how I feel.

Okay that's my day, hope everyone has a good one as well.

You're a great son Mike & you have a very devoted Mother. Those of us raised w/ loving caring parents are the fortunate ones.

Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) is a better pain reliever for back pain than Tylenol (Acetaminophen). It sounds like your back pain is caused from inflammation - try Ibuprofen instead. Advil is short-term (4-6hrs), Motrin is often 10-12hrs. You might try Naproxen (Aleve), as well. It's very effective at reducing inflammatory symptoms. Tylenol (Acetaminophen) is not a Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID).
