Norm - I went out and pulled the last Annual Water Report for Pevely, MO (attached) and on the last page of the report you will see the Carbonate/Hardness concentration of all samples tested ranged from 264 - 338 Milligrams/Litre, these values convert to 15.4 to 19.7 Grains/Gallon. Yikes, Cape Girardeau has been unthroned!

There are 3 buttons below the LED screen and 2 on the right of the screen. I'm having a hard time visualizing where that o-ring cage goes, it must fit somewhere within the valve assembly? Where on the unit did you actually see the leak? If it happens on ours, I hope it happens before the 7-year parts and labor warranty expires.
The o-ring cage goes into the valve assembly behind the control board. The failure symptom is a continuous stream of water leaking out of the drain line.

Thanks! Now that you provided a picture I'll compare to ours. At first glance it looks very similar, but not exactly like ours.

My valve doesn't look like that, it's just a picture I found showing the o-ring cage.

Mine is the 5 button model shown below

Kenneth/Chris - That water supply interior parts kit is very similar to the kit I ordered for my Culligan Medalist..except yours appear much less costly. At any rate, should be here Saturday I guess and I hope it does the trick.

Good morning guys,

It's already 85° at 0900, 80% humidity, and a "Realfeel" temp of 95°. The forecast is for +100° today and tomorrow, just plain nasty.

Wife's been suffering from a summer cold so we're just hanging around inside the house trying to stay cool. Not much else is going on. I was hoping to go to a cruise-in on Friday evening, but since it's supposed to be 100°, plus a high chance of strong afternoon thunderstorms, I've already essentially ruled that out. There's a judged show on Monday, July 3rd that I've gone to before that I'm planning on going to if the weather cooperates.

Hope everyone has a great day, and if you're located in the high heat zone be careful and stay cool.

Low humidity for sure. It's currently 106º and 5% RH. Humidity is inversely proportional to temperature. NWS says you are presently 85º and 57% so when you get to 100º the humidity should be lower.

I'm OK with heat up to around 105 or so, but 110 and above is miserable even without humidity. My back yard patio pavers that are in direct sun get to almost 150º and they don't cool off after the sun sets, and I suspect the asphalt roads are even hotter. 116º is gonna be brutal.

Remember with the low humidity we don't have moisture in the air to absorb the sun's energy or clouds to block it, so it's like being directly under a broiler.

Big storms last night. Caught a large branch off a pine tree on the house. Sawed on it some till it got dark, then went and sawed with neighbors to clear roads.

Got up this AM, got on the roof, cut it up and heaved it off. Cosmetic shingle damage, took out a chunk of gutter on the way out. I should get out of this for about 20 bucks. It landed right on the junction between two roofs, which has a support wall beneath it, and an iron beam in the basement on wall jacks; about the best place you could hit the house.

Back garage seemed to get a lot of small branches, need to climb up on it next.

John - You came away unscathed in the grand scheme. Had a drenching rainfall here while I was away evidently w/ some wind. A modest sized dead limb crashed just outside the corner of my man-cave building - thankfully no damage. I'd been wanting to cut it down for some time but it would require me renting a cherry picker to get to it. Finally relieved it's down w/ no damage.

John/Norm - Glad you both got thru the storms relatively unscathed. The storm that hit John went just north of the metropolitan St. Louis area yesterday afternoon. Our next big chance of severe storms here is Saturday afternoon/evening.

The evening weather report said our excessive heat warning will expire on Wednesday because the temperature will drop down to 110.

Oh joy.

Went to Menard's, bought a chunk of gutter and accoutrements. Came home, dropped the 10' gutter off, did other errands. Still way too damn hot, so I made dinner and will probably go to bed. I cut the gutter square, so I will put this piece up in the AM. If it rains tonight, it can run out both ends.

Yeah, I heard a few pops this evening as well. One of my dogs totally melts down at fireworks noises and I dread the next several days.

Kenneth can you take your dog to the kennel for a couple days? I probably suggested this before but I don't remember. Before Tiger my two dogs would go berserk at any loud noise. Thunder, whatever. The kennel people suggested I do that. They said that the other dogs bark all day and all night, and you can't hear the fireworks inside the building. I had a roof put on my house, I took them for the day. They would have gone mad.

Chris looks like there's a fourth spot to dig next to the third one. Your property value will go up when all these houses are done.

Yep, you're right on both accounts. I still wish they weren't there, that was our wildlife sanctuary where deer and other animals would come to eat and play, plus the view was better. We still have a nice view of sunrises and sunsets though. After that 4th lot is done, I think there will only be 1 or 2 open lots left out of about 136. Not a big subdivision compared to many.

Good morning guys (still morning here),

Well, June has come and gone, where in the hell does time go?

Sitting here on my **** I decided to take a look back and do a comparison of how many and types of car events Ive been to up to this point this year versus last. Turns out it has been the same total number of events, 12, but the make-up has changed. Last year at this time I had been to 9 cruise-ins and 3 judged shows, placing in 1. This year I've been to 7 cruise-is, and 5 judged shows, placing in 4.

Nothing planned for the weekend. There is continuing potential for more severe weather throughout the day and evening tonight. The severe weather that went through here late last night and early this morning skirted just north of us by only about 10-miles hitting the town of Arnold hard. They have alot of people without power there and there was a considerable amout of damage to trees and some buildings, even toppling over a semi-truck in the Walmart parking lot there. Too close for comfort!

I have a car show to look forward to on Monday during the day. It's supposed to be dry and considerably cooler (high 80's) which will be nice.

Hope everyone stays cool and misses this latest round of severe weather that's moving across the Midwest right now. Have a great day!

Gutter is up. It's thinner grade than the original stuff, but should work for the short distance. I will have the gutters redone in the next few years, perhaps.

Looks like a little REO action in a minute, by that I mean "Riding the Storm Out". A wide red and yellow band is going hit us any time. Luckily we got the dogs out to go before it was upon us. Looks to be about 3 to 4-hours in duration going by how it's been moving on radar.

Chris, what happened to your 100 degree weather? Ours is here for the next 4 months. We might see 80s at Halloween, but maybe not.

Ya, I know, it only got up to 96° today before the thunderstorms came in, we're a bunch of wooses compared to you desert dwellers. Down to 73° out there now after the storm cooled it off, cooler than in the house, seems very strange! I'm just glad this latest front that came through was a not as severe as it looked on the radar. Warning sirens went off, but all we really got that was bad was maybe 40mph winds, heavy rain, and lightning for maybe 15-minutes at the beginning, and then just a steady rain for about 2-hours. It was however enough to send Monty into his usual meltdown.

There is rain and storms all around us but so far here in the Greater Stockbridge Area just a breeze and overcast.

Saw a 67 GTO online this morning that really looked like I could enjoy. I've never owned a Pontiac. I texted the guy for a picture of the Fisher Body tag, and it took him all day to send it to me. He wasted time answering questions I didn't ask, I began to think he didn't know what I was talking about. Finally he sent it and it was the wrong date. Eh, I figured.

Work was good today, other than starting at 4am. We finished up around 11 and got out not long afterward. Went to the Awful house and had lunch with a friend then came home and gave Tiger a bath. He did okay, wasn't thrilled but fairly cooperative. Glad that's done.

Lots of places were going to have fireworks tonight, but I bet they get rained out. Tiger doesn't go crazy over fireworks but if we didn't have any around us tonight I wouldn't be sad.

Okay have a good evening everyone.

Mike - Just curious, in what way was the date on the GTO's Fisher Body Tag wrong?

Glad you got Tiger bathed without too much fuss. Maggie is no problem. I have to grab Monty when he's at least half asleep or he'll bolt, and if he doesn't want to be caught, you aren't going to catch him without a tranquilizer gun.

x2 Last night (Saturday night before the 4th) was one of the allowed nights for fireworks per City Ordinance in our town. There were alot of folks in our subdivision, and nearby, shooting them off, and there were some big ones, the kind that sound like a howitzer. Normally, Maggie doesn't give a crap and Monty would have a complete meltdown. For some reason, Monty did not melt down last night, and I was amazed by the change. He stuck close by my side all evening, but he did not go into any excessive shivering/shaking and excessive panting. We don't know what caused the change, but my wife's theory is that maybe all the construction noises, like the banging of heavy equipment, nail guns, etc. has lessened his fear of loud noises. In any case, it was a nice change not to see him suffer. He still melts down with lightning/thunder.

I did fireworks the first 2 years after the big ones became legal in MI. I value my appendages and have better things to spend money on than that crap. Leave it to others.

I do wish the makers would stop selling the boomers, though. Those are just dumb, in my opinion. Fireworks are meant to look at, not make your heart miss a few beats. My college buddy does a big show at his lake house every year, and he just made a FB post about looking for those boomers. I will dent his skull with a putter at the golf outing next month. 🤣

Chris I've been half-heartedly looking for a car built on the day I was born. The date on the GTO was 02C, thus wrong for my purposes. I think you said your car was 05E, which is about 3 weeks too early. I have seen three cars that were 06C but not anything I was interested in. One was a built up dragster, one was clapped out and rusted in Chicago, and one was here in the south but had the dumbest and ugliest seats you've ever seen, plus the trans had been changed.

I've never been a big fireworks person. When I was little, you could entertain me all afternoon with sparklers. My biggest thing was these little black pucks you'd touch a match to, and it would create this big worm that would dance around till the puck was used up.

Just got back from Walmart. Not a lot of people there so we were in and out fairly quickly. Beautiful out, now after I rest I can go outside and do a few things.

We got lucky last night as there were just a handful of boomers. I planned ahead with a dose of doggie tranquilizers (for the dog, not me) and turned on the stereo in two rooms to the same radio station with the volume high enough to mask the fireworks noises.

The down side is FM radio has way, way too many commercials. So today I connected our two portable XM radios that we use in the cars to the stereos so we can have continuous music, and music that we like.

I gotta say anyone who sells me a product with a lifetime subscription, warranty, etc doesn’t know what they’re in for. We bought lifetime subscriptions for a song when XM was floundering, before the merger with Sirius, and that has been one of the best deals I ever made.

If our family went to the movies on a Saturday night, it was always to the Drive-In theater. My parents enjoyed watching movies on the big Drive-In screen, the comfort of remaining in your own car, a walk-through food bar w/ the basic cheeseburgers, fries, hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks, etc. during what they called "half-time" - I really liked going to the Drive-In movies. Just before the movie began they'd set off a small round of fireworks - nothing elaborate, maybe a dozen at most. Everyone would head to their cars and the movie would begin.

Mike - Those were Black Snakes. We used to get them all the time. Eventually we figured out how to make them on our own by robbing Mom's kitchen.

Kenneth - I used to have an XM radio subscription. I wonder if it was a life-time subscription? Then, along came Sirius and I had one of those subscriptions, as well. I don't have them any longer.

I worked for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Jamestown, ND - Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center ~nine months (1983). Hal Kantrud, PhD. was my supervisor. Hal was a certified, licensed pyrotechnic operator. He was authorized to purchase pyrotechnic products, supplies, etc. and assemble/manufacture & discharge pyrotechnics (fireworks). He & his wife owned ~40 acres. He showed me how to make fireworks of all sizes including the large 25 pounders you drop into a mortar casement and watch light up the sky. Having been a student of chemistry, it was pretty cool to watch an expert explain to me the various colors of various metals & the various stages required to assemble/manufacture them. I found it pretty fascinating.

Norm, when XM and Sirius merged our lifetime subscriptions continued with the new company. The wife was able to transfer (or maybe add?) her new car to the existing subscriptions for something like $15 or $25. It’s nice having satellite radio without a monthly fee. And with the built in FM modulator I can move the portable satellite receivers to any of my vehicles and with the line out jack to any stereo in the house. Oh yeah, I also have a boom box that’s AC or battery powered so I can have XM while camping.
