Allen,

My Sonata is a 2009 with the 3.3 V6. I have the manual for taking off the plastic parts. Finished the automatic transmission pump install today and will start on the tow bar backing plate tomorrow. Things take a little longer these days then it used to when I was younger. My wife and I will just kinda meander around from state to state mostly on 2-lane roads. Meet the most interesting people that way and see some strange and different places. IO believe we will try and meet some of the Oldsmobile group along the way.

Well time to take some Advil and let the sore muscles relax. Have a good evening all

Hey everyone,

What a beautiful evening it turned out to be. Pleasant, warm and no wind. Sun was shining and the world was pretty.

My Mrs. is working late so I was 'in charge' of supper again tonight. Mmmmmm, mmmmmm, good. Can you say BBQ? I made some of the most deeelishus burgers that would make your mouth water like Niagara Falls. Always tastes best fresh off the grill, with all the toppings. Resisted the urge to make them spicey...

Pat - 2009 I think was the last year they offered the 3.3 I love mine. It's reliable as heck and it has a ton of power. Got all the luxo comforts including heated leather too.

Sandy - That means you have the A65 (split bench with armrest). Those moldings were one of the options - you could get them with the inserts or not. Don't fret none about the hoses.

My eyes hurt, time for sleep. Take care y'all.

Good morning everyone!

As always, a great start to my Sunday, at Awful house. I'm not a fan of bacon or sausage either one, my fare usually consists of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit with gravy. Well, there's sausage in the gravy.

Sandy I was just being a wiseguy about the power steering hoses. I couldn't see them.

So I've had the glovebox door to the 68 Chevy in my kitchen for about two months. Someone painted it black and taped off the warranty sticker, with brown shipping tape. I had to use a hair dryer and a plastic scraper to get it off. Anyway, I didn't realize the door should be body color. The black paint looks horrible so I figured now is the opportune time to do something custom(with a rattle can) to the inside, because there's no way it's staying pale yellow. But what to do? The same someone painted the gauge surround and the door panels, and used high gloss paint. Any ideas what I could do that doesn't include yellow or black?

Okay gonna take in the air show this afternoon. Think I'll take the High Saturn. It hasn't had a good run in awhile.

Have a great day everyone.

Day two of my tow bar project. The advil did the trick so I can get back to work

Adrian, Have fun with you time off and don't bang your head again

Jamsbo,
Damn I miss bacon, sausage, and ham. To much salt. Still sneak in a little when wifey isn't looking. Motorhoming is not for everyone but I like it. Go where I want, no reservations and if I don't like a place just move.

Slantflat, enjoy the airshow. Is it military or a mix?

Sandy,
Thought you would be at a car show today. Poor Teepo locked away in the garage until the leak is fixed.

Have a great Sunday all.

What a great Sunday...

Everyone was asleep still, so I showered, went for a walk, came back and made a pot o coffee. Enjoyed a couple of cups on the deck with my cat and a gentle breeze. It's an incredibly nice 9°C. Put up the umbrella and just soaked in the nice weather and birds chirping.

Jamesbo - whattaya mean ya doesn't BBQ dem? What's a poke (aside from the obvious entendre).

Adrian - 4 days off sounds like a great job. I'm new here so what do you do? I have 7 days off a week. I'm retired.

Mike - What color is the car? And what is 'Awful House' you guys seem to like so much. I'm guessing IHOP? Sausage and eggs for me please.

Sandy - you had instant grits the other day? NO ONE from dee souf EVVA uses Instant Grits and gets to stay Sowvern!

Pat - yeah, Advil and I are old friends too. Hope you get your tow bar in ok.

Have a great day everyone!

Allen to us [or is it we] who can't spell Zambonni w/o look'in it up. Barbequ'in means S-L-O-W cooking pork [or if your Texan beef] over indirect heat for hours and hours. [i.e ya can't Barbeque a burger.] Ya can grill a burger but we don't refer to a charcaol/gas grill as a Barbeque,it's jes a grill.

It's jes part of our language barrier. We also call all "sneakers" "tennis shoes" Don't ax me why cause I ain't got the foggiest.

Jamesbo - that's the best 'esplanayshun' I've heard about BBQ vs Grill. Later today I'm planning to 'grill' some Poke Tenderloin. Up here though we call your BBQ what it is - Slow cooking - like making 'pulled poke or pulled bif'

Well, off to fuel up the Zamboni!

Evening everyone.

What a great time at the Robbins Air Force Base air show. It was mostly military but some civil stuff. In fact, when I walked out onto the pad what did I see but Big D represented with a shiny 757. I elected not to go up, since I go on one every day. I probably should have, because I wouldn't have had to work on it and the AC was on.

I got there after noon and the Blue Angels had already performed, and they were leaving soon. About 40 minutes later they took off, but it took them an hour to leave. Very impressive. It was hot but a bit of a breeze. Scot did you make it out? I parked at the Macon airport. How cool was it to drive across the runways and the taxiways in my car.

Allan you're okay in my book but you must be set straight immediately. WAFFLE HOUSE is the chosen place down here. Now, I'm not from here originally but I've taken quite a liking to the Awful house, not...the other place. Always one within cat-swinging distance.

The Saturn is dark green, like most Saturn wagons. It's an SW2 so it has painted bumpers and weird cloth seats. It's the "HIGH" Saturn because my best friend bought it brand new and he always talked about it like it was Royalty.

Okay the dogs have had their supper and have been out. I'm wacked. It takes a lot out of a guy walking the flight line in the sun and 85+ temps. It did feel good, though. Think I'll sit down for a little while and if I don't fall asleep watch some Seinfeld in 20mins.

Good evening to everyone.

Good Evening All.

I had a great day. It was a nice, sunny day and went up to 9*C. A great day to go for a drive.

Today, a local car club organized a tour of a personal collection of vehicles. The guy is mostly into International trucks and tractors, but is also a fan of Cadillacs and John Deers. I think I was there for about 4 hours walking through the different buildings. He had trucks from brands I had never even heard of. And he even had 1 REO. Most of the trucks are painted in his trucking company's colours.

Mike, maybe paint it silver?

Sorry Sandy, I haven't won the LottoMax yet, so no car purchases.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Mike - thx for the clarification. I kinda oopsed with the BBQ thing to apparently. I guess it would help if I knew more about the local community down there. So now I know what `Awful House`, BBQ and Grill mean in different parts of the country. Please don`t tell me that AC means Allis Chalmers to you.

Paul - Car shows are always fun to go to. Trucks aren`t really my first love either, but there are some real nice ones out there at the local show and shines. Take any picsÉ

Ok that`s just annoying, I pressed something and my question marks all turn to this É. WTH did I doÉ arrrgghh. Did it again. Gotta fixit.

Monday beckons. I will be away most of the day setting up the for the Skills competition course. But we get free lunch! Hotdogs and GRILLED burgers, with pop (or is that SODA), coffee and donuts (please tell me Donuts are universal). Then Tues and Wed about 160 folks will be running the course with buses. I`ll try to get some pics.

Stay happy

Well, I've only been to a Waffle House twice, on the way to and from Tenn. to visit a cousin in 2010. Now, the food wasn't bad, but being from "Up North" (Michigan) I sorta thought that when you had Blueberry waffles on the menu, it meant a heapin' of berries on the waffles, like we do up here....buuutt, such was not the case! they had speckles of blue in the waffle, which I suppose suits them just fine. On the more rational side, we do grow a ton of blueberries, so it's sorta a way of life, ya know, like blueberry waffles, pancakes, muffins, and mmm mmm blueberry pie a la mode!

69 - now you got me feeling 'blue'.... Nothing like mixing fresh fruit into an ice smoothie on a hot day! Got one of them magic bullets for a gift one year. Sucker works pretty good, and my fridge has one of those ice/water dispensers so I never run out of cool on a hot day. Every try a blueberry beer smoothie???? Me either.

Uh, nope! but a local winery makes a decent blueberry wine, they have a converted 1930's gas station (pics in another thread) with the wine making in the basement. They want to start brewing beer, so maybe I'll drop them a hint!

Evenin All!

We had a nice day here. It got up to 65 and was sunny. Now they're callin for scattered rain/storms tomorrow. I guess I'll know in the morning if I take Teepo to Don's or go to work. It's gonna warm up this week - we may even see 80 mid week, so there's a chance of friggin rain all week.

Allan R..... it takes awhile to get used to Jamesbo's southern accent, lol. Poke.... that makes me laugh every time I read it, lol. Also, when he says he's been to de stow - that means the store, lol.

Citcapp.... I wanna go traveling! When we win the lottery, we're gonna get a motorhome and travel. I would love it!! The car shows haven't started yet around here. There's an all Oldsmobile Spring dust off next Sunday over in Parma. Don't know if I'll go yet. It's a drive, and I don't go on 480/271 in all that Cleveland traffic. There is a back road, though. All the cruise in's start week after next. Riverfront on the 7th, Chick fil a on the 10th, Bellacino's on the 11th. Don't think my rims will be done yet, but hopefully the tranny problem and steering will be fixed and we can cruise!!

I gotta order those new lug nuts from Summit, too, I just remembered......

I took Larry out for breakfast to the Cracker Barrel this mornin. It was yummy!!

Well I did something new and exciting today, lol. Something I kept saying I was gonna do "one of these days". I had Larry show me how to use his power washer, and I washed the soffet (?) (the metal that's under the overhang of the house) or is it soffit? Anyhow, I power washed the damned thing on the back (north) side of the house. I got soaked from head to toe, lol. I bet my sweatjacket weighed 30 lbs. when I took it off. Just drippin wet. As was everything else I had on, lol. I put my hair in a braid and tucked it under my shirt, and put on a ball cap, and pulled the hood of my sweat jacket up over that. My goggles kept gettin wet and I couldn't see so I had to stop a few times and wipe them. My gloves were soppin wet. My hands got soooo cold, they were purple when I took off the gloves. I was pretty cold all over by the time I was done, lol. There was no sun on that side of the house, so I was working in the shade and it was breezy and the water kept blowin back on me and runnin down on me.

Took me about an hour and a half, and it looks very nice now. Then I had to clean the friggin windows on that side - 5 sets of them. And the breezeway doors. All 30 little panes of glass in them. They had dried soap and water spots all over them. The Ultimate cloth and water didn't get it. Neither did Glass Plus. Neither did Simple Green. I finally used Lime Away and that worked. Smeared like crazy too. So then I took the Ultimate cloth to them twice and finally got them sparkling again. And while I was washing windows, I went ahead and came on around the house and cleaned them all. I love that Ultimate Cloth!! I finally came inside around 8:00. My arms feel like they're gonna fall off and my fingers are sore, and so is my neck from looking up. My turn for the Advil tonight!

Larry power washed the deck while we had the machine out and I had started doing it since I was already soppin wet, lol. I think he felt sorry for me and took over. It looks like new again! I don't think we did it last year. The wood is starting to get splintery along the top railing now. But I ain't sandin it, lol!!

Well my fingers hurt, so enough typing now. Have a great evening all!!

Mawn'in all

Spose to be a pretty day, so I 'm gonna go smack whitey round.

Allan,

Sorry down ere in Hotlanta dar aint' no such thing as "Soda" or "Pop" [Well Pop could be your father I guess]

There's only "Coke" [and not de kind ya put up your nose.]

I only been to Canada twist. Once above Monteral in de Lorentain mountains ski'in. and once to an Expo in Vancouver. Can't recall what de heck I ate up dare, But I bermember in de Lorentain Mountains it never got above 8 below fer a week and all de TV was in French. I didn't know a Tornado had hit Hotlanta [and my apartment] til I got back home.

Oh yeah, I bermember de had survey'in ribbons on the wire fences cause de snow was so high it was right at de top of de fence post and I guess they were try'in to keep skiers and snowmobilers from gett'in kilt.

Dat Sandy's a clean'in fool ain't she.

I like de Awful house better than Cracker Barrel. Cracker Barrel's sausage has kinda maple flavor. Ya see down ere we ain't got no Maple trees so I was drug up eat'in cane syrup on my pancakes and waffles. Maple syrup jes don't taste right to me.

Anyone ever been to de air show in Oshkosh? [by gosh]

Pat, Glad cha got de tow bar fixed up. Sorry to ere 'bout no sausage and bacon. That jes wouldn't suit me. I loves most any kinda poke. Had sum Poke butt steaks las nite with black beans and rice.

Have a wonderful day Olds friends.

Good morning, eh!

Cleaned shop yesterday, and made a paint booth in one corner.
Picked up a 68 350 -the guy was super nice, and owned a 70 convert. It's the second car from Lansing where the cowl and Vin do not match up?
It's amazing how two neighboring countries can have such different restaurants.
Mike, local eateries are the preference in my area. The first Waffle house I saw was a trip to Florida to see my parents.
What is Awful house?
Jamesbo, I have a small glass of maple syrup (really small) everyday at breakfast!
The only grill I know is on a car
Allan, you should be drinking hot tea on a hot day-didnt your grandmother every tell ya!
Have a good-one!

Mornin all! Well I'm sittin at Don Sitts. They just took Teepo into the shop. Kid came and asked me which way the steering wheel was cocked. I told him its to the right. I sure hope they get her fixed quickly....its cloudier than heck and radar is showing the rain and storms moving closer. I'm hoping I can get back home before it starts. I debated coming today or canceling. I'm usually wrong when I debate, lol. I'm tping this on my phone.... keys are so small. I ordered those McGard lug nuts from Summit last night, so they should ship today. I had a $10 gift card I won at Bellacinos last summer, so I used that. Total cost with shipping almost $50. Well my fingers hurt so I will check in later.

Uh, oh. Sorry Sandy.

Went over to Tom442's house yesterday. Showed him the stereo box, at mocked up the template with his shifter. When I get back from vacation, I'll get started on it. His car is coming along. Gonna be a nice ride when he's done.

Sammy, Awful House = Waffle house. Not sure if they have them up north 'eh?

The countdown commences. Will be in the Big Easy in 4 days including today.

Have a great day all.

Well, I cleaned up the garage yesterday as it was a great day. Jamesbo, to me a grill is a small cooker, like a Habatchi. A BBQ is a large grill like the ones you cook steak on (like last night) and have side burners. Being born and raised in Montreal, I call "tennis shoes" or "sneakers"....running shoes. I don't say "pop" or "soda", I say "soft drink". In the western part of this country, they call it pop.

I remember going to ID with fellows from the Seattle Olds club and BC Olds club. One guy we met said they had the border wrong. He said the border should run north-south, not east-west. Must be we all speak the same in this region. Hava a good day ya'll. Adrian....G'day.

Awwwww.... Thank you Citcapp!!

We made it home - got lightly showered on most of the way. Got to Hudson and it was dry - just starting to sprinkle a little bit. Got her in to the garage before the skies let loose, lol. I got her all dried off.

I called Defer and changed the tranny appt. from Wednesday to tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow is looking dry in the afternoon. We're in between rains right now. It's clearing up some, but only in the 40's. Supposed to hit 72 today..... Storms later they're saying.

So... my steering wheel is straight. They wanted to test drive her to make sure she was going straight, but since it was raining they let me make the choice and I chose just to drive her home. I told Rob that if I had any problems I'd let him know. I believe she drove straight. I took my hands off the wheel a few times and she didn't wander to either side of the road. Now.... he told me that the alignment was off - I don't understand that technical stuff - and it didn't have anything to do with them taking the gear box off. Both front wheels were like leaning in towards each other or something like that. They lined it up, but he said the 'toe' is off some - not a whole lot. He said if she didn't drive straight coming home, she would probably need something done with that 'toe' and they'd have to use shims and that would take awhile. He said if she drove ok, he wouldn't worry about it. What is 'toe'??

I got the feeling that he thought I was trying to get a freebie or somethin, and I didn't like that!! If her steering wheel would of been crooked when I took her over there, it would have been on my list of things to fix, believe me!! It wasn't crooked when I parked her in the fall, it wasn't crooked when I drove her around here, and it wasn't crooked when I took her over there!!! I would have noticed it. I told him I haven't had anything done that would affect the alignment since I had the tires put on her 5 years ago. They lined it up then. So I don't know how all of a sudden she just got out of alignment??

I suppose I should have her lined up - again - when I put the other rims on her? I don't friggin know. She's very aggrivating this year, lol!

Clint.... hope you have fun!!! Some day I want to go to Nawlins.....

There I made it befo Noon ^^^

Well it's another ho one here with temps getting up to 90 this day. Only a few degrees below the record

Mike we saw where there was a record number of people out there @ the air show and the crowds were pushing and shoving to get on the buses in and out of there, so we decided against going. Our youngest daughter which is nine doesn't do very well in the heat and if she is miserable then we are miserable I'm glad you got to go and I wish we could've but there's always next time. I will definitely take some pics of the van today, I keep forgetting the camera when I go down there, but I have to go today to check on the place and get the mail (bills)

Sandy, the "toe" refers to the tire alignment. Kinda like a person that is "pigeon toed" means their toes point inward. Or vice-versa your tire(s) could be pointed out if the "toe" is wrong. But since you are comfortable with it and it tracked straight without your hands on the wheel it should be fine and nothing to worry about.

Jamesbo did cha get that '69 drop top golf cart ordered yet? Hopefully you done well on the back 9 this time Heck I wouldn't know which club to use if I went, so what do I know

Clint have fun in Da Big Easy!

Welp yall have a great day

I've always favored pure cane syrup over maple. Maple syrup flavored thick cut bacon is purdy good though. We used honey on our cathead biscuits after supper fer our desert. Had to save da cane syrup fer breakfast Resin taters, hmmm I hadn't heard that or even thought about it since I was a little feller But yes I've had them many moon ago.

Don't care for Maple syrup either. I use honey, or homemade preserves on pancakes, biscuits, etc.

I prefer to put brown sugar on the bacon and bake in the oven. Use the thick cut pepper bacon for extra zip. That's when I could eat bacon. Pig is the perfect food group.

Hola, Oldsmopeople...

Hey, folks... well, I was writin' a dissertation and dang! I hits da' <Backspace> and voila~!! Whole post gone! Well, it'll have to wait till next time. I was going to lament our missed Blue Angels show weekend before last (part of War of 1812 Bicentennial), and actually celebrate that I did not attend the Jazz Fest this weekend.... although lotsa' folks had a blast. I'd rather be home! Too much sun, heat, time, & work for this geezer.
Hope all are well.... nuttin' much goin' on w/ car. Seems like since Easter, not much goin' on at Ponchatoula Plantation in general! Need to get snappin.... It's prime cruisin' season.

Well it turned into a nice day. Sun came out and we got up to 83 degrees this afternoon!! We have a thunder storm coming through right now, just lost the satellite to the TV. I sat all my flowers and plants back out on the deck earlier today.

Spent the afternoon with Nicole. She had a doctor appt. so I went with her. Then we stopped at Starbucks. Had a nice visit. She has a job interview tomorrow - I'm hoping it goes well!

Have a good evening all.

My day off sure went fast. Steve won't be happy when I tell him I have to leave at 2 tomorrow so I'm at Defer by 3, but oh well. Guess you'll have that, lol.

Happy Monday night everyone.

Got hot today, which I like. Tried moving some cars around the driveway, but everything hinged on the yellow truck. Suddenly it doesn't want to run. It starts, hard, and will idle for a few seconds then die. The slightest touch of the gas and it dies. I'm going to get a carb kit tomorrow and put that in so hopefully that will solve the problem. The other possibility is the operator doesn't know what the hell to do with the manual choke.

Clint have a great time in LA. How are you getting there?

How's the head Adrian? That was the car letting you know you don't spend enough time with it. Him. Her.

So I've come up with a new project I may or may not get to. I grew up in Park Forest, IL, which is a village that was built right after WWII for the returning military people. I came across a picture of the first police car, which is simply a black 49 or 50 Chevy with the words Park Forest Police on it. I figured it would be cool to make a clone of this car. So far the Historical Society has nothing, but I recently heard from the Chief of Police and he said he's got several pictures of the car and some information on it. Not exactly sure what I'd do with it once it was finished, but I lived there for 26 years, and my Dad was on the Force for a few years in the 70s.

Sandy if the tires aren't wearing abnormally save your money on an alignment.

Well the dogs tell me they want a treat. Everyone have a good evening.

Evnin.

John, make sure you keep the nice weather down there for the weekend. I'm lookin forward to 70' lows, What's the truth about not eatin Oysters when the month doesn't have a 'r' in it? True or false. I was hopin to eat my fill.

Mike, If everything goes as planned we will be arriving in a big ol jet plane(I can't wait to get felt up and have my nudie pictures taken by the security people) after a plane change in Hotlanta. Then we'll drive to Mandeville from Biloxi. Thats a long drive(Den to LA) in the olds, without an overdrive. (which I'm currently looking for)
Sandy, Ima gonna ship these your way if it's ok?
