Norm, All IK remember about Chuck was my father was VERY impressed with him. He went to dinner at his house and told me. He started at the very bottom and became president of Bell & Howell. We even got a few Christmas cards from his family. I never met him but from what my father told me He was very low key for such a wealthy guy [remembered where he started]

My parents owned both a Bell & Howell 8mm movie camera & a Bell & Howell 8mm movie projector. They took many family movies w/ that movie camera.

We get, on average, ~5 days/year when temperatures fall below 25°F (Jan/Feb), snowfall is basically non-existent, if it does snow it's gone the same day or the next day. I'm thinking of climbing scaffolding today (46°-55°) for some punishment. I'll tell you, this body isn't what it used to be.

That was the business my dad was in. In the 50s the Atlanta school system didn't own a single projector. They would rent them and a film [from the film library at my dads business] A van would delivery a rolling table, the projector and Debbie does Dallas [ or what every fil the teacher wanted here kids to view] When the teacher needed an extra empty reel, projector bulb or reel spring They would call my dad, he would bring it home and I would take it to school I think he got in the AV [audio visual] business from his exposure to the Link pilot trainer in WW ll That all ended when LBJ poured a gazillion dollars into the school system during the Great Society and my dads company began selling language labs etc to the schools so kids like me could listen to Claudine Longet singing De look of lub instead of learning french

It's 20° F here right now at 0730, way too cold for this time of year, and they're calling for another 1 - 3" of snow tonight into tomorrow morning. I sure hope this isn't an indicator we're in store for a very harsh winter! I really hate winter anymore.

Good morning everyone.

Cold this morning, but the sun is out now I think it's going up to 50 this afternoon. As long as the sun is out...

Fairly slow this morning. My usual wall guy has moved to the robot, and my wall guy it's his first time working with me. He's good but a bit slow.

Got more things to do this afternoon than I have time for, but they all need to be done this afternoon. The AC guy is coming to measure a couple things, and hopefully start on some ductwork. He says the new furnace might be delayed a day, which means he won't finish until Thursday. Mom is already screaming bloody hell because it's so cold in the house. It's 65. If she doesn't burn the house down by running multiple space heaters she'll have heat by the end of the week.

So Monday. Hope it's good to everyone.

I broke out a coat I purchased last year, sold, but still with tags, a Carhartt artic jacket. I need a tall, and I am somewhere between XL and 2XL. Being a coat, it's better to be bigger for more insulation and wearing more layers, so my preferred coat size is 2XLT, which is hard to find. This guy was on Ebay, never worn, so I got a good deal. Thing is bulky, huge, and warm. Did 30 deg just fine, no hat or gloves needed. I think it will be a good replacement coat for the 20s and 30s for me.

I also hear that my favorite M-65 Field Jacket may be coming back in my size, so I will get like 3 if they do.

Mike, no, never had the ESC light come on. Mine was a lease, so I only had it 3 years and turned it in with about 48k miles. If no other messages have come up, then it's most likely *actually* the electronic stability control system. Likely culprit is a wheel speed sensor, and not the actual ESC unit itself.

Now, if the message "Service Stabilitrak Soon" comes up, followed by "Reduced Engine Power"... then that will likely be something engine-related. The two times I have had those messages come up in combo was on my Enclave. As it is a throttle-by-wire setup, it was related to the throttle position sensor malfunctioning. The ECM couldn't determine where the butterfly was, and it's quite unnerving when it happens at 75mph on the freeway. Speed will quickly drop.

The first time it happened, I thought it was because the throttle body was freezing up. I wound up cleaning it with throttle body spray, and then the next time it happened several months later, I ordered a replacement throttle body from Rock Auto. I had it swapped out in about 15-20 minutes.

John - Ya can't go wrong with Carhartt gear in my opinion, it really lasts and ya get what ya pay for! I've got an insulated Carhartt field coat I used to bird and small game hunt in that I've had for +30-years, and I'm probably on my 3rd or 4th pair of Carhartt insulated coveralls that keep me warm no matter what the temp is.

Jeff I get the message ESC OFF and then a few seconds later SERVICE ESC . I also get the amber warning light of the car zigzagging. There's no reduction of power or any other odd behavior from the car. After the car is off, when I start it again the message goes away, and it's hit or miss if it comes back next trip. But it will come back at least every other day. I can't imagine trying to sell this car now. It has several things wrong that minimal effort would cure, but I can't be without it long enough to get them done. So I keep driving it and then other things pop up.

I believe a bit of a mutiny is going on. This morning the lead told us that we are now only going to get paid for the overtime we work. So if we come in at 4 on Saturday and finish up and go home at 9, we will get 5 hours of overtime and not 8. Also on Fridays, if we come in early but go home at lunch, it's all straight time. Talk about some bullshit. So no one is in a hurry and with an hour and a few minutes to go we are about half way to our mark. The lead is going to try to dress us down at the end of the shift and it will be met with the deer in the headlights look. I know it isn't his idea but whoever came up with it has no idea what a shitstorm he's just started.

Chris, you should move south where it's warmer...nevermind. I have a hooded Carhart that I bought about 5 years ago, wear it to work and around the yard in the colder months. It's warmer than the overpriced L.L.Bean coat that I bought. When I went to trade my Saturn Aura in, the young salesman says "my boss loves those Aura's" to which I replied "then he'll love this one, cuz the dash lights up like a christmas tree".

Going to toss a beef (loin) roast, russet spuds, onions & Brussells sprouts into a slow cooker for the first autumnal pot roast of the season.

I recall the days when my (Parochial - Catholic) grade school & H.S. used those type labs. I know this because a teacher was assigned to order the labs, check-in the reels, etc., prepare the reels for return, etc. & sometimes I was assigned to assist that teacher in various activities - labeling the reels, postage on the reels (or whatever), roll the cart(s) into classrooms, yadda, yadda.

EDIT: Projector bulbs, they were the bane of every lab. Teachers who didn't re-order bulbs and when a bulb went TU that was the end of that lab.

You sure will be, thats gonna be delicious! Not to muddy the crock pot, but I'd trade the Brussel Sprouts for a $hit ton of baby carrots, but to each their own.

Wife had great northern white beans, ham, and pre-fried crumbled bacon in our crock pot all day. She served it up with a big mess of cornbread. I had a little cornbread with my real butter, enough cornbread to use up a stick and a 1/3 of it! Everything was delicious.

I was gona say the same thing. Mmmmmm carrots and potatoes mmmmmmm.

Speaking of corn bread, I just LOVE jalapeno corn bread. I make it with whole wheat flour, stone ground corn meal, some agave nector for sweetness, and of course a bunch 'o diced jalapenos. Mmmmmmmm.

I'm a huge fan of jalapeño cornbread too, but it doesn't agree with my wife at all. She loves spicy food, but it doesn't like her and ends up giving her indigestion. I've had some cornbreads with different cheeses in them that were very good too.

Good morning everyone.

Slow start to the day, which is normal. We'll see if people are still peeved about the new policy. Rain.

Awful house has jalapeno cornbread. Never tried it. The shop across the hall makes jalapeno popcorn. That **** is nasty. You know what's good? Jalapeno Poppers. Jalapeno's wrapped in cheese and deep fried. Heck I'd eat a rock if it were wrapped in cheese and deep fried.

Dan you know what I do like this Aura. It's nice to drive, it's comfortable, well built. And you don't see many around. Although, it is silver which means it blends in with every Camry and Accord. And that guy moves. For a 6 it really has some get up and go. But I can't get into it very easily anymore so it has to go. It's probably going as far as the back of the yard.

Oh tons to do after work today, because I didn't get anything done yesterday. My sister called right as I was leaving work and I can't talk on the phone and drive the truck at the same time. It steers heavy and is a stick shifter, so I'd need three hands to talk so I just sat in the parking lot talking to her then went to meet the AC guy at Mom's. Eh.

Okay have a good day everyone.

Never heard that particular joke - pretty good, Jim.

Guys, I went with Brussels Sprouts since they're in peak (harvest) season & tastiest this time of year. The kitchen smells delicious right now.

I love jalapeño corn bread & jalapeño poppers. The recipe I use for jalapeño corn bread I got from the label of canned sweet corn many years ago.

I think I'll make a Peppercorn Au Jus Gravy w/ the drippings.

Good morning guys,

Crap, was hoping the weather man would be wrong, but I woke up to the ground covered in snow again. Not as much as the last one, maybe an inch or two at most. Hopefully most will be gone by this afternoon.

Our new credit cards finally got here yesterday. That was a damn nightmare trying to keep revolving accounts from going into arrears, but I think we were successful. Gonna work on finding a better mousetrap for the future. Not sure if that will be having a separate card with a new provider that will only be used as a backup, or finding a different primary provider that offers overnight or some type of expedited shipping on replacement cards.

Got our County Real Estate and Personal Property Tax statements in the mail yesterday. Since not every State has Personal Property Taxes, I'll explain they are essentially taxes on all your toys. Toys being defined as automobiles, motorcycles, ATV's, Boats, Jet Ski's, Travel Trailers, hauling/utility trailers, hell there's probably more, but these are the big ones. Well the 1st thing I did was pull out last year's statement and did a comparison. In theory, if you own the same exact set of personal property from one year to the next, your taxes on that property should go down from one year to the next because of depreciation. I have the same set of personal property as last year, but my valuations for each vehicle are exactly the same as last year's statement. "Something is rotten in Denmark", and I believe a call to the County Assessor's Office is now part of my plan this morning.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jamesbo that never gets old. I start laughing before the video starts.

Chris here in "THE GREAT STATE OF GEORGIA" we have the same thing. We call it ad valorem tax. It's bullshit. I paid tax on whatever when I bought it, but I found out that ad valorem is latin for, let's keep screwing everyone.

One thing I never understood, fully, back home we had to buy stickers for the car, City Stickers we called them. This was above and beyond the license plates and insurance. It was just the city's way of getting more of your money. For awhile Mom lived in a modular. This is the house with two halves going down the highway. They are permanently secured to a concrete slab and all the undercarriage used for transport is taken off. Yet, these types of houses are still required to have a city sticker because once upon a time someone considered them vehicles.

Lunch is over. Not sure where we are on the count, but I've had more than a few big main wheels. The wheel assemblies for the A330 and A350 take about a half hour to fill, and they also take longer on the robot because they are bigger, therefore having more tie bolts. Ah, but no excuses...
