Neighbor needs help on a hot rod

I've been trying to finish the Money Pit and start on the Mistress, but my neighbor keeps coming over for help and tools, he is kinda lost .He picked up this model A 4 door rolling chassis stuff and has ideas of making a Miller boat tail roadster hot rod out of the parts he has and the stuff I probably have just lying around in my garage taking up space. Glad to get rid of it, I'll never put any of it to use any way. This is his first hot rod and for sure my last. The problem arises when he doesn't have a plan or a layout or even a detailed picture of what goes where, just an idea in his head that I have a problem putting a tape measure to. Reminds me of my high school days.

I would love to help him, and I will, should be fun for both of us. But somehow we need to be on the same page or it's going to cost him a bunch of time to redo stuff and money for mistakes. He's gotta have some kinda a plan. I'll see how this goes, he has the ambition and a few wood working skills, seems to want me to help, but we are at opposite ends of skill levels and I sure don't want to be his boss, maybe an advisor from afar. Pictures when I get them....Tedd

You need to be a mentor Tedd. As you know a mentor is not a boss. He will have to have some kind of a plan for this thing to be successful. If he doesn't have some idea and plan, this thing has disaster written all over it.

Had major leak, Floor was wet clear to the outside door, thought I had bought this bogies used washing machine.... Then I noticed the drain hose was out of the pipe. Oh well, I needed to mop out the garage anyway... Tedd

That was a good way to make the best use of available water. You’re quite the conservationist.

Just a few pictures of where we are on this Rat Rod build. My old 350 Chevy, carb and a few other parts getting bolted on his frame and running gear, really in need of a transmission and a different rear end to measure up, so we can figure some kind of steering and the placement of the radiator. Very early in the planning stage, if you can call it planning. More to come as it happens... Tedd
