My wife has kicked my butt all year till last night

My wife has literally caught 500 more fish than me. This includes some big Channel Catfish in the 15-20 pound range and some nice 2+ pound Rock Bass. But our local Reservoir has been especially good for her, a ton of Walleye, probably at least 30 5+ pounders, plus a 6, 7.5, 7.75 and 9 pound 32" Walleye. I finally caught a 5.5 pounder last week, biggest otherwise was 3.75 pounder. My Wife took our Daughter back last night to University and I caught this, 10 pounds, 6 oz.

This is her monster

Nice fish.

We often call them the "steak of the lake" around here. I think walleye are some of the best tasing fish you can catch.

Good times.

No bait, except shrimp to catch Perch and bring the big Walleye snooping around. This year, mostly Cabela's black and white as well as orange and green double tail grub in 2" and 3". We also use the Blaze, excusively at Walmart, South Bend single grub tails in black and white and yellow and black. It changes colour from year to year on what they bite on. Last year Bomber A4 crank baits worked very well. We use 3/8 to 1/2 oz heads, usually glow heads or fluorescent colours. The Abu Garcia Specialist rod and reel is my Wife's choice. Very smooth 8 bearing reel with a 24 ton sensitive graphite rod. I use an Ugly Stick lite with a Shimano 5 bearing reel with a Quickfire 2 trigger. We both go with 10 pound test Power Pro braided line, green and red, both work the same. It casts wicked far being the same as 2 lb mono in diameter. We have many rods and reels. Both our main rods and reels I mentioned which are spinning reels, cost us $100 and up.

We love that show. Unfortunately due to how the Canadian version of Animal Planet is totally different, we don't get new episodes till way later. We also never got Eric Young's fishing show, ironic him being a Canadian wrestler, total BS.

I agree, it has been a tough year. Standing right beside her catching nothing or little ones while she pulls in 5 pounders gets old fast. I have caught 3 days in row and her nothing tonight. But the couple of days after the big one she caught 7 each evening, I caught nothing. I told her everything was back to normal, I caught the biggest fish and she caught the rest.

This the largest I have seen come out of our reservoir. 11 pounds 12 oz. This picture doesn't do it justice, a true monster I saw first hand.

She looks great and makes 70-80K a year. Great cook, baker especially. Her Sister is useless and uglier, my Wife takes after her Mom's side(Mennonite) and her Sister, her Dad's side. She is a character like her dad's Mom but looks nothing like that side of her family. Her Brother is a really good guy and a smart *** like her. This is her sense of humor.

Like her big blue *****😁

You catch walleye like that from the shore up there? Geez. How big are your reservoirs?

Small, our local reservoir is maybe 2 miles by a 1/2 mile wide and 30-40 feet deep, depending on where they keep the level. We do go boating but it is electric only. Didn't go as much this year, gravel launch and owning a Dodge, it was out of commission most of the year. God, I miss the Olds powered 4x4. We mostly caught Perch on the boat and smaller Walleye, big ones switch sides, we boat on the East side, big were on the West side, this year. They hang around 3 culverts that separate the main reservoir from a smaller section and the creek outlet to the West. Food no doubt floats by, so the big ones wait. Pike also made it in due to the massive flood in 2013, biggest so far is 7 pounds, the reservoir was full to the top, scary. People bait fish and catch tiny Walleye or go out in boats, in all the wrong spots and catch nothing, we laugh knowing they won't be back. Now Tobin Lake, a hydroelectric reservoir is much bigger and deeper is about 4 hours north. It has the world ice fishing record at almost 19 pounds plus there are 40+ pound pike and Lake Sturgeon in the 100 pound range. We went on a day trip through work, my boss caught a 8 pound Walleye and 11 pound pike, never fished in his life. Thunder Rapids, the outlet on the North Saskatchewan River raises and lower about 3 feet in minutes. We probably caught 30 Walleye in couple of hours
