My 48 th class reunion

Just got back from my 48 class reunion, had a great time and of course we went in the Olds. About 1/2 of the class showed up of the 55 graduated students , we were the baby boomers and the largest class ever in Durham High up to that time. We lost 7 along the way that we know about from war, car wrecks, drugs and disease. White hair or no hair was in vogue this year as every one was sporting some or none.

Hard to believe how time has flown and memories fade, name tags should have been mandatory for any meeting of classmates longer than five years God people sure change over the years some for the better some not so much.

The plan is to have a 50th in a couple years and I'll be there if it happens, hard to believe some of these people were your very best friends a half century ago, Time flies.....Just a few random thoughts about today....Tedd

It takes great courage to go to a HS reunion after so many years and come to the realization of just how bad we may or may not have aged. If mine weren't so far away of my current residence I might consider going.

I've always found my HS class reunions enjoyable. My 45th is coming up at the end of this summer and I've already marked my calendar. I've missed all of the "5" year reunions (5, 15, 25, 35) up to now, and I also missed the 30th, due to being too far away. But...they are fun!

Forty-EIGHTH reunion? Who holds "48th" reunions?

I've heard of reunions on the 5-year marks (30th, 35th, 40th, etc.), but not every year!

The reason for the odd year was because we were the class of 66 and (most) everyone was 66. Really it was just a convenient time for most that they contacted to hold a reunion. I think the last one was slightly before the fortieth year.

I guess we aren't stuck on the traditional dates as some....Tedd

Well, then you should have held it on Route 66!

I have my 50th coming up in October. It is about a 300 mile drive and I plan to go in the Olds. We have one very 5 years and I have been to them all except the 35th where I didn't get the notice. Attendance has really dwindled at the 45th but I bet it will be up for the 50th. I always enjoy them.

My HS class also held a 60th birthday party in 2011, not because it was our 60th reunion, but because most of us turned 60 that year. It was fun, too!

What a great idea. Maybe I will suggest that for our 70th birthday which is only 2 years away.

I applaud everyone who still has friends from school, let alone wants to meet them nearly 50 years after. The only reason I even went the my graduation was the free meal. I know the whereabouts of exactly 2 people from back then ... one of them only because I married his sister. Couldn't leave them behind fast enough.
