Missing in action

Not a military thread but a fellow Oldsmobile member thread. I was looking up some info on 403s. I read some posts from "captjim" and I see he hasn't been online since 2017. Not the first time I've noticed former active members that all of a sudden disappear. I guess that's just the way these forums are. Here today, gone tomorrow.

Having just dodged the bullet, If a member is missing for a while, it could be caused by many things. The worst of which they have passed on and no one in the family notifies us on this forum.

I'm sure that happens, occasionally a old thread comes to the top of the page and our old friends return and visit to give good advise again even though they have left the garage some time ago... May they always be remembered...... Tedd

I remember Jim getting tired of all the backstabbing and name calling on other Olds sites. He may have just gave up like so many others have. He did have a pretty good gig as the Captain of a charter boat In Florida, I think

Ones I really remember are Lady and Rob 72 and Erik Turner. They really contributed and suddenly stopped. And I'm sure there are many others. On another point something that really bugs me is the one time newbee posters who ask a question about their car. Sometimes there will be 20-30 answers from others many including charts/diagrams/pics, etc. The original poster apparently never even checks back to see what the answer was to his question, or if he does he never acknowledges it. Seems pretty rude... I love this site and learn alot about these cars from others questions and answers.

i used have his phone number because I was spending a week in Siesta Key and I was going to charter him for a day. I’ll be dammed if I can find the number now. That was at least 12 years ago though. I think he was in Tampa but I’d imagine there are a lot of Captain Jim’s
