Mascots!

Aside from pumping money into my recreational cars directly, I enjoy figuratively polishing my 1:18 scale car display and adding fun details to our home that reflect my personality. I love the over the top attitude that came with many early hood mascots. Aside from the swooping, voluptuous fenders that were clearly inspired by God’s female form, the hood mascots of earlier cars exuded a great deal of character and personality that has been lost by automakers long ago. I’ve included photos two of my static mascots from a ‘34 straight eight as well as a duplicate lucite insert version of our ‘40 coupe. I also fabricated a set of bookends from the glorious V16 Cadillac goddesses, but won’t include photos here as to not digress from the focus marquee. I wondered if other members have hood ornaments that they’ve collected or display?

Very cool. I love them. I don't have any personally but I get it. Let's see the bookends.

Go ahead and do it anyway. This is the Clubhouse.
The second ornament pictured is quite an interesting Art Deco-type one. Because of the globe within, I'm assuming it belongs to an Oldsmobile.
When you titled the thread "Mascots", I thought you were theming it on those pathetically bullyable hatable creatures plaguing sports events and You-Know-What rallies:

The following looks like it has a not so secret wish of getting one of those night sticks shoved up its throat:

Of course these are replicas of the originals as the “real thing” would be cost prohibitive for us work’n folk.. The book ends are .5” steel and the pedestals are aluminum turned on a lathe. The pedestals rotate for desired angles. Felt base lined. The ‘40 mascot is the same as the one on our ‘40 90 series Olds coupe.

The bookends are sweet! I have a Sealed Power ashtray in the display case, and a new Mahle piston for a Hellcat, which has graphics added by a Mahle engineer. My buddy is a senior applications engineer there, FCA is his customer, and gave me one even though I'm not a Mopar guy. Couldn't find a pic of the piston on my computer.
