I just heard about this. He was one of my favorite writers during the “glory days” of Hot Rod magazine. He was a wealth of information.
I got to meet and talk with him at the 2000 Car craft Summer Nationals. I had just competed in the burnout contest (coming in 2nd place) and he interview me for the “20 dyno proven engine recipes”. He mentioned the 69 Cutlass project car he did with the magazine about 15 years earlier, his eyes kinda lit up when I mention the Meaner than a Junkyard Dog title. I told him those articles were kinda of my “inspiration” for my build, since so many articles he wrote with the car I incorporated into my car in fact, I bet half of the articles I have in my tech library are things he wrote.
The automotive men who shaped the cars and hobbit one got so much are fading away.
