That is sad. If Jack Daniels is ever acquired, it will be the end. There would be a riot in Lynchburg. They would ruin it. I was just there in November and it is pretty fascinating. I hope that never happens.

Yes but what im getting at is when they made the sale they didn't stop to think what or how loyal beam drinkers would feel which most are or will be probably upset once they find out. Im right there on the business end but if we all agree its about making money then this thread has no valid point. The us. company sold out to the Japanese to make money that's business so if we understand how it goes why is it an outrage if America is about capitalism then as americans why would we be mad if that our system. If anything its a good thing the Japanese see US. businesses as a good investment maybe a sign of things to come .

The point of the thread is largely tongue-in-cheek.
Budweiser was acquired by a Belgium firm some years ago, and U.S. beer drinkers survived.

To me I see things like this and I think its irrelevant . Ok so the Japanese bought jim beam . Ok everyone gets mad lets not drink beam. Then what happens they lay off American workers. Its a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. I think of this along the lines of people who only buy us. made. Its such a waste of effort because if it's on the shelf then it's paid for and if you boycott the carrier then American workers and companies go under. No one wins.

I'll bring on the weisers for the tactical plans. I may as well bring captn morgan along to help out with our front line. Where going to need more female medics I have a feeling their will be stumbling along the way in. They can also carry spare pea shooters if one drops off !!!

It doesn't matter who owns it, because to be called bourbon, it has to be manufactured in the United States.

<H2>Legal requirements...
Bourbon's legal definition varies somewhat from country to country, but many trade agreements require the name bourbon to be reserved for products made in the United States

It's called a global economy, be glad they want to purchase here! As long as the rest of the world wants to buy/be a part of America, we will do well! Imagine if they didn't want to invest here.......that would not be good, we need them all to invest here, if they buy here, they need us to be successful so they can get a return on their investment.

you are correct in being upset, but there is no large just american companies. that is the past.like cast iron, most cars, radios, ect all made out of country. i admit im upset the world has changed. i ike my old cars because they remind me of a time before my time when our country was on top. when america ment pride, quality, workmanship, and the economy was good. you could have something besides a dead end job high bills and wanting to scream while at the checkout counter. in 1966 the average fulltime worker made $5967 a full size chevy started at $ 2379. thats less than half. that would be like a impala starting at 18000 today. not 24. but this is what it is.

What it shows is that auto affordability now is about the same as it was in 1979, and that affordability was worse than it is now through the 1980s and most of the 1990s and has actually gotten steadily better from about 1997 to 2012.

It actually benefits a company to build 100% near their target market. Using an example, all parts that an Asian car manufacturer makes in Asia not only have to be shipped to the USA at high cost and long lead time, the materials to make them had to be shipped at the same, to the component plant in the first place. Also, the Asian manufacturer is using that capacity to make cars to sell over there, anyway.
It's hard to claim "X is more American than Y" because all companies, US and foreign, make cars in many different countries, with parts from even more. It's also hard to say "this company is more American than this company," because, even if you know where the headquarters is, you don't know who owns the stock, and all auto companies are publicly, internationally traded.
It's much better to buy the best car you can for the best price that best suits your needs, and leave the political crying to the politicians.
