Little Old Lady From Pasadena

I've noticed a few posts recently that mischaracterize this nice Little Old Lady.

She was a Street Demon, not some Sunday driver! She drove her Dodge Super Stock 426, with a 4-Speed, apparently with her foot to floor most of the time, LOL!

It's the little old lady from Pasadena
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Has a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
But parked in her rickety old garage
Is a brand new shiny red Super Stock Dodge

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's the terror of Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

If you see her on the street don't try to choose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
You might drive a goer but you'll never lose her
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Well, she's gonna get a ticket now sooner or later
'Cause she can't keep her foot off the accelerator

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
The guys come to race her from miles around
But she'll give 'em a length then she'll shut 'em down

And everybody's saying there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
She drives real fast and she drives real hard
She's a terror out on Colorado Boulevard

It's the little old lady from Pasadena

Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go
Go granny, go granny, go granny go
Granny go

Just had to set record straight

When I was young, that song, and Mopars in general made a lasting impression on me. I loved the power, the style, the colors!

I had a great job in 2010 and I indulged that love affair. I even got to race a 426 4-speed like the little old lady drove. It belonged to member of our local Challenger club. It was just acceleration from a stop-light and my 2010 SRT was the equal of that old classic. Love affair affirmed. We won't part.

It was a great song, more importantly it was a great car. The Mopar B bodies were the cars to have back in the early 60's.

I am confused. Did someone say the song in question wasn't a Dodge?

I've read somewhere that the song was inspired when either Jan or Dean read an article in a newspaper about a 64 year old grandmother that had been arrested for drag racing on Colorado Boulevard.

Here is the background to the the song’s inspiration. The original vision was a person like Katheryn Minner driving down Colorado Boulevard in a yellow 32 Ford coupe:

Another factoid is that this record recording was made by Jan Berry and Flip Sloan. Singing credits on labels do not always track who actually sang the songs.

P.F. “Flip” Sloan could be the most famous person to sing lead, sign talent, and play the the guitar, whose name you do not recall. For instance, he signed the Beatles when his boss thought their music was trash. He wrote Eve of Destruction recorded by Barry McGuire, produced Paint It Black for the Stones, was part of the Wrecking Crew Gold Star recording studios and so much more.
