Last silent prayer
Hi all
I feel sick, sad and tired...
My mother is gone. She died last Thursday night.
One week before her `78 birthday.
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next door room,
I am I and you are you...
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in
the usual way which you always used. Put no
difference into your tone, wear no forced air
of solemnity or sorrows. Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile,
think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the
household word that it always was. Let it be spoken
without effect, without the ghost of a shadow on it.
Life means all it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was,
there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be
out of mind, because I am out of sight? I am but waiting
for you, for in the interval. Somewhere very near just
around the corner... All Is Well...

Awwwwww Udo. I'm so sorry to hear that. I lost my mom 6 years ago this year. I was with her when she died, and as unpleasant as that was, I am so thankful I was there. I too still talk to her every day, and I know she hears me and is with me.
That is a beautiful prayer you posted..... very comforting!!

I am sorry for your loss. I know it really hurts. I lost my mom in 1982 when I was 36. As time goes by and you begin to heal, you will find you think of the great times and memories and you cherish them. It takes some time but it will happen.

Udo,
That is a very beautiful sentiment to remember her by..I was particularly struck by the line that says "Why should I be out of mind, because I am out of sight? ".
She is only gone physically for now. I know you will enjoy her company again - in the future. God bless and Keep you well.
Death is not a topic anyone likes to talk about; but it's an eventuality for us all. I lost my father in 1978 and can appreciate how devastated you must feel. We share in your loss.

Lost my mom at 15. never able to fully get over her absence. Im okay though, you will be too. Sorry for your pain. The amount of pain you feel is directly connected to the amount of impact she had in your life. Great pain means a great love is missing that used to be there. Find ways to celebrate her even though she's not here. I watch my moms favorite movie every year on her birthday. I tell my kids so many stories about her that they feel like they know her, she seems alive to me in so many ways...what a legacy she has left.

Udo,
Very sorry for your loss. I (as I think a lot of guys and gals on here since most of us are a little older) know how you feel. My Father passed away in 99 just a few months before my son was born. I still think of him almost every day but I can tell you that the sadness goes away slowly and you are left with the memories of the good times. Take care and stay strong.
