There's snow forecast for here tomorrow. Maybe a dusting; ground's too warm for it to stick.

But that hasn't stopped 'em from going absolutely nuts in the grocery store! Stopped in the Food Lion tonight on the way back from dinner and there's no bread (except for that super-expensive Dave's Killer Bread, $5 a loaf) and hardly any milk or eggs.

I swear I'm beginning to think the tv weather people and the groceries are in cahoots.🤨

People have a way to "panic buy" things sometime; especially groceries. Also our country seems to be experiencing a supply chain shortfall on certain things currently. I had difficulty finding soda crackers in multiple stores. While Dave's Killer Breads are a bit pricey, they are good breads. Last week, Whole Foods here had a 50% off sale on the entire line of breads from Dave.

Funny you mention this because I noticed yesterday while shopping that one person had 4 cases of Budweiser along with the essentials his wife sent him for including shopping for tampons. I guess some guys will truly do anything to make sure their wives let them have a super bowl party.

I live in a rural county, with one central town of 10,000 people. There's a single, big, well-run grocery store there.

And I've lived where 5° above zero was a normal winter day.

So I was surprised when I went to the grocery store 12 months ago, four days before the week-long deep freeze (5° above zero) arrived.

Nearly all the fresh food was gone, only some organics remained. But the thing that knocked me back laughing was the beer cooler that's usually filled with the common brands.

The cooler is massive. It's 50 feet long, six feet tall, and 40" deep. There was no beer in there. Only boutique beer remained elsewhere in the store.

But they had bread. Texans get their priorities right!

Anytime snow is forecast around here, people freak out I don’t get it. Only thing I can figure is people get a craving for French toast whenever it snows. What else can you make with milk, eggs and bread???

Maybe the snow reminds them of powdered sugar?

French toast and a fried aig sammitch work great if you have a gas stove or even a good woodstove. If yer stove's electric and the power goes out, well, ya better like canned beans and spaghetti!

Thought the grocery run was strange even with Superbowl and Valentine's Day on deck. I guess people heard "winter storm" and remembered the mayhem we had this same weekend in 2021, when we got nearly half an inch of ice and power was out for days. There are still ice-broken trees laying next to the roads from that one.

Rocketraider where are you located?

Grocery stores here in Denver are thin on the shelves a lot lately. They blame the shortage on no drivers. We do get panic buys here when weather comes in too. This winter we haven't had any big storms though.

Is that place still open?😄 "You Never Sausage A Place!"

Pedro's weather forecast for SOB: "Chili today, hot tamale!"

For rambunctious high school graduates who went to Myrtle Beach SC for Senior Week in the 70s, two things were required to prove you actually went: a South of the Border bumper sticker and a Bowery club t-shirt. I had both.

I still have some leftover fireworks from last time I went thru there, bout 20 years ago. DK if they're stable or safe enough to use!

My mother bought some fancy Mexican feathered bird Christmas tree ornaments at SOB one year. We had a big old orange tomcat named Nehi and we couldn't keep that fool cat out of the Christmas tree. He'd go for those fake birds no matter how high up in the tree Mama put them. Wasn't like Nehi wasn't well fed. Rattle the box of Little Friskies and that lard-assed cat would come galloping.

No1, I'm in south-central Virginia right on the NC state line.

Back to OT, looks like even their dusting of snow forecast is a bust. Light rain is all I've seen. But garondamntee the grocery shelves are still stripped!🙂

I've never been there, but I appreciate the sheer tacky persistence of Pedro.

I’m there with you. The wife and I go do things that are typically too crowded for our tastes, but on Stupor Bowl Sunday the crowds are thinned out significantly.

As for the Coleman camp stove, I still routinely use mine that I bought new in 1981. It goes with me on every camping trip.

I couldn’t care any less about the super bowl. It’s been several years since I have followed any professional sports.

We had a huge ice storm back in 1991, we didn’t have power for 10 days. We cooked a lot of food on a kerosene heater.
