Hey everyone,
The wife and I moved into our new house so I'll have to put the 442 on hold... In the mean time, I'm going to be doing a lot of projects around the house and I thought it might be fun to post them here, lol.
Anyway, the first thing I'm doing is digging up my sprinkler system and replacing the heads and making sure it's done right. All of the sprinkler heads are 360 degree heads so it's really messing up our wall.
Some other things that I'd like to take care of:
- Fix the moth infestation (I think this is tied to the bees)
- Check to see if there is another beehive in the side of our house (we had bees recently and the seller removed them... but the bees managed to make their way up into our upstairs bathroom via the window in the bathroom...)
What home projects do you work on when you're not working on your cars?
- D
UPDATE:
I haven't been working in the yard because...
1. The HOA gave me a fine because my front yard is dead (we just moved in, no grass, lol)
2. The moths have grown so bad that I finally had to deal with them.
I figured out what kind of moths they are - wax moths. Ironically, I used to buy the larvae and feed them to my lizards (wax worms). I guess wax moths are a pest to beehives which makes sense. :O I've attached some pictures that I took today of my garage.
This is what I first saw when I cut open my garage wall:
Then I cut some more:
Close up:
And another close up:
At least I found where the moths were coming from. There were hundreds if not thousands of wax worms in there. I'm glad to have found them.

I'm a carpenter, I hate working on my own house.
I did insulate and drywall my garage and put a lift and heat in there, more important than a new kitchen any day.
Actually my latest project was pressure washing the shingles on my roof. Ever notice all the roofs with black streaks the last few years? It's caused by mold that grows on the limestone they use in manufacturing fiberglass type shingles. Newer fiberglass shingles have chemicals or something in them to counteract it, asphalt shingles are fine. Copper strips under the ridge cap on either side and slightly exposed so the water washes down over them and down the roof will keep it away once cleaned off.
Next project- Black Italian marble tile on the garage floor, mirrored walls.

So I called Arizona Blue Stake and had the utility companies come out and mark their lines. I thought it was hilarious when they marked all over my neighbors yard XD They even put in little flags, too! I get a *knock knock knock* - what the hell is this stuff in my yard? LOL Nah he was pretty cool about it, I'm actually taking his rocks for my yard
Edit: See original post; it's been updated.

Thanks! The sun's been beating the hell outta me but I manage. The previous owner of the house hacked the structural part and I had to redo the whole thing. This is where the hot tub sits too

Some updated pictures after I removed the honey/honeycomb/worms/moths yesterday:
And this is looking up into the second floor (which there was about a throw-pillow-sized mass of cocoons):
I removed the styrofoam that had honey on it. The moth larvae even burrowed into the styrofoam... gross! You can see where the bees came in (maybe) at the bottom of the wall where the a/c pipes come in. You can also see the exposed chicken wire where the pest control guys "removed" the beehive...
I'm guessing that the yellow strip towards the bottom is a pest control strip. It was encased in honey so I washed it off and stuck it back in there.
On another note, today I went to a local reptile store and bought some stuff. I had store credit so I bought an Argentine black and white tegu and necessary supplies. I also bought this "mite killer" stuff that I've used in the past with wild-caught animals. I forgot about this stuff... I sprayed it in the garage and viola - the moths are dying!
Now I just have to insulate the pipes, spray? paint the walls, seal the cracks, and replace the drywall. Cool!
Oh, also, I cut the upstairs wall so I'm off to drywall that.
D
P.S. I wish I could come play.. I like a serious game of poker... Well, more serious than playing with relatives who don't understand the game but want to visit anyway...

Did some work on the upstairs bathroom drywall (above the honeycomb)...
After I cut the drywall:
Day 1:
I missed day 2 pictures. Here is day 3:
I'm surprised with how well it's turning out. Hopefully with new paint it will look good as new.
