I found a 455, but no sale.
The guy I bought my Cutlass from came up and told me of a 455 sitting next to a building. He found when he pulled his bike over on a old country road.
It looks to have been a old sawmill and the 455 powered the saw. The engine is covered up and complete.
I went to the PVA office in town and found the name of the man that owns the land. Found his number on the net. Called him up and asked about the engine. He said he didn't want to sell it.
Here is a little more info about the man. He owns a lot of land and rental houses. So the engine doesn't have any real value to him. In his own words it been sitting for a long time and I don't think it would be good. I told him I understand that, but I'm looking for a good engine core that I can rebuild so it doesn't need to run. Then he said he hadn't thought about selling it. So the answer was no.
The engine is a early 455 with E heads and is complete. It has a manual bell housing bolted to it.
So far I talked to him on the phone once. I'm thinking of talking to him again in a couple of months the next time in person.
Any opinions on what to say or do that would help convince him. He doesn't use it or care about it and sees no value in it. I would like to have it even if it is junk it might have a few good parts.
At the end of the day its his choice if he wants to sell it to me. I just trying to go about this the right way.

I have been thinking of getting a 98 or 88 from the late 70's or early 80's for a dd. I have seen a couple in pretty decent shape on cragslist with decent prices.
I don't really need the engine. My thinking is if I can get it cheap then why not. Plus it doesn't hurt to have a few extra.
