Seems pretty dramatic for something they just needed to turn off, huh?

Yeah - I mean how long would it take to gather enough police cars to surround the car, etc. - as compared to, like, the amount of time a car takes to roll to a halt?

And WTF about bailing out at 100mph?!? And having only minor injuries?!?

Wtf seriously. pardon my abreviated french but one of the first things my dad told me. if you loose your brakes or your throttle gets stuck, shut it off. Dont these people realize cars have emergency brakes for a reason .

I'm wondering - don't the cops realize that cars have emergency brakes and ignition switches.

The logistics just do not make sense. The teens call 911 and the police arrive in time. The car is gaining speed but they are trying to stop it. Just does not add up

Ha, that's about right George.

Story is ridiculous, who jumps out at 100mph? Seriously? Shutting the car off, using the emergency brake, downshifting - none of those ideas popped into their heads? Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive a car.

Maybe the kids want to write a book about how they defied death and narrowly escaped what was certain to be a tragedy.........I dont get it?

This is like the Prius owners a couple years back when they couldn't stop their runaway cars. Emergency brake, ignition switch, down shift, neutral.....................
If you can't figure that out you don't deserve to drive. Watching those morons supposedly helpless behind the wheel weaving through traffic just infuriates me. We really need a more comprehensive driving course in this country before people are allowed to drive. Something like Germany where it's like $3000 to get your license and weeks/months of driver training before you can even get on a street not to mention the Autobahns.

I wanna see someone other than Lee Majors (The Bionic Man) jump from a car traveling
near 100mph and not get hurt. Hell, the Hollywood stunt men make a living doing it, and a couple of giddy teens can do it?
Maybe I'm growing hair again, too.

The story is dated April 9. Late April Fools perhaps?

I am not sure what the problem is? I can't say whether it's driver error or mechanical issues, but this has happened before, and it will happen again.
