How do you put a value

Well today, I was rein stating My car insurance and I was asked what set value I "thought " it was worth?
So I set back and thought 700hrs is a good est. of my man hours into it.
And parts and such I bet it's over 5k
I looked on line and it seems for a 65 442 / cutlass prices rang from 5k-40k

I felt my car is a middle grade restro with a lot of non original options to fit my taste.

So I figured 15k is fair set value as it's a clone but pretty much restored

Did the Insurance company ask for pictures?
In North Carolina they usually do in order to be able to place a value on it should something actually happen. Old paint vs new paint, actual condition etc.

Yes, lots of pics every angle then they review it. to make sure it values near what I say. if they disagree they will want it appraised.

I don't want to put less then it's value but at the same time I don't want to pay appraisal cost either

God forbid anything happens to your car, however can you replace the car with what you have done to it for the 15 grand? I have J.C. Taylor insurance and I have a value of 17 on it. They took pictures and no problem with my estimated value. I have a 65 cutlass 2 door post 330 4 speed with rebuilt engine, tranny ,front end brakes. Car could use a paint job but looks good.

I feel that I could replace the car for around 15k. now with that said, this is truly a one of a kind to me. lots of donated time as well as my hard labors went into this car great friends and bosses helped make this happen, that's where it hit home it could never truly be replaced

I think in the current scheme of things that's a fair number. When you get the interior done and get the BBO in it you can bump it up later.
