I too assumed the video was just run in reverse, until I got to the "how we did it" part. That was actually even cooler.

Impressive. I will say that the longer the trailer, the easier it is. My wife's gooseneck horse trailer is very easy to back with my crewcab dually. The combination of a long truck, long trailer, and trailer wheels towards the rear of the trailer instead of under the center make it very stable in reverse.

Yea, the distance between tow-bar and pivot-point makes the difference in simple trailers without turning front axle,
shorter the distance, the faster it turns, also harder to fix your line if it goes wrong.
Same goes for car- longer the wheelbase, slower it turns thus feeling more stable, but its also slower to fix your line. Vice versa for shorter wheelbase. Also the distance between cars rear-axle and towbar changes alot.

I drive that Scania and that asphalt paver to bring money to wallet. My flatbed is about in middle of being slow or fast-turning.
We have 4 quite the same looking flat-beds, and every one of them is like night and day to back up compared to other.
And since we work on our capital area, you can be sure we have to move backwards countless times a year. + Not too much space on capital streets anyways.

Image sucks i know.

Yup. In my case, the gooseneck, with the pivot point over the rear axle, also helps a lot.

Volkswagen's marketing people are the best in the automotive world.

My brother-in-law has a TDI and he was complaining about being "deceived" the whole emissions debacle. He's got 250K miles on his 3 year old Jetta. I told him to suck it up because he was saving $1000/year in fuel, not to mention the fact that because he was getting better mileage he was polluting less.

Loved it!

It looks like the trailer is actually towing the car. The car's engine had to be running for PS and such but I wonder if it's using power to the wheels? Also interesting that the trailer vehicle is a stick.

The trailer is towing the car, as described in the second part of the video. The "driver" in the car is there for appearances and to steer only. The driver in the trailer has an intercom to tell the driver in the car how to steer. Learning how to do that had to be the hardest part of the whole stunt.

I have all kinds of equipment to move for my delivery to customers! Any ware from tilt 5x6 tilt bed, all the way up to a goose neck 25 ft. long.

I have no problems backing a trailer, it's just when your pulling all kinds of different trailers single axle, double axle, enclosed and goose neck it usually take some time to adjust each one.

Now what's not impressing me is the semi drivers backing to our dock. Two level dock one hundred yard perfectly straight shot! 1 out of 4 drivers may get it on the second shot, I can deal with that (normal) we have had two drivers this year approach and exceed 12 tries

I m not completely convinced that it isn't played backwards .in the round about the wheels on the trailer don't appear to be turning at all Like they would if the trailer was pulling the car.
