An Honest Car Salesman!

Mildly NSFW

1960's car salesman... READ BEFORE WATCHING!!!

Who remembers Ralph Williams in SF area? Big time car salesman.
This is one of the greatest commercials ever seen and it only aired
once. During the late 60s, most television programs and commercials
were live. There were no "pre-recorded" programs. There were some
obvious problems with this method. No "retakes" and "bloopers" were
a regular occurrence. He quit right after this commercial. This is no blooper.
This guy was just upset with his boss and told it like he thought it was.
What a great job of ad-libbing. He never misses a beat, if you listen carefully,
you'll hear the cameraman and soundman lose it.
The commercial got on air... but only once!

Sounded like he was 'ready to quit' all the way through the commercial. Like he was on a dare to do this. Caught me totally by surprise, but how can you argue with him? You just know he's telling the truth...

That was an excellent commercial.......and he did it with straight face and didn't miss a beat as you said.

I also enjoyed this video which came up after the saleman one ended.

My colleagues who shut the door to the hallway halfway through this video would probably recommend tagging it "Do Not Open at Work."

Brilliant!

Not an honest car salesman! Today we would refer to him as a disgruntled employee!!

Our work network blocks YouTube (and non-work email), but that's what the iPhone (and colleague's iPad) are for!

Another One!

Still funny!

There is not too much fact floating around on the Internet about these ads, but I think that they are most likely done as pranks and that they never aired on TV. The guys name seems to be Chick Lambert and he did do car ads in the '60's and '70's, but not much else is known about him.

Also on youtube look up Winnebago Man. He was a cantankerous guy that made commercials for the RVs, and these are the outtakes compiled by the camera crew. Note: His choice of words(or choice words) are rather colorful. Definitely not for virgin ears.

OK, I've got a story to tell about a car salesman. Back in my home town in Kansas there was this salesman at the Chevy/Olds dealer. His company car was an Impala convertible and he liked to cheat on his wife.

One day he had that new Impala parked where it shouldn't have been. The woman's husband drove a concrete truck and came by the house. The top was down and the irate husband dumped a load of fresh concrete into the car filling it up.

I was at the dealership one day and overheard someone ask him about it. All he would admit to was he claimed to have sold a lot of cars because of it.
