Fun story to share

Yesterday a guy at work was asking about the 1967 Cutlass I'm driving. He starts telling me about the 1967 442 he had in High School. He bought it in 1976 in Yreka California for $300, White paint with red pinstriping and red interior. The previous owner had used it to haul hay for his horses so he remembered having to clean the trunk when he got it. It was a 4 speed car and for a 16 year old a real kick to drive. He had a local shop rebuild the engine in 1977, then he sold it to a local car lot in 1978 for $1500. One of his old high school buddies recently told him he thought that was a rare car and if he still had it would be worth a pile of money. I start asking him more details to see if it sounded like a W30 and he said: " Oh yeah, my buddies picked on me because I had dryer vent hoses on my engine. They hooked to a large chrome air cleaner and connected to ducts at the front of the car" When I told him how much that air cleaner alone was worth he just groaned. He's going to try and find some pictures of it and if I can get digital copies I'll post them. Another case of if we could just go back in time and make a different decision...
