Actually Scott, according to my research through Wikipedia you are out of your mind on this! To quote:

"Hear, hear is an expression used as a short, repeated form of hear, hear him. It represents a listener's agreement with the point being made by a speaker."

"The actual source is the Hebrew Bible, Samuel II 20:16. "Then cried a wise woman out of the city: 'Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab: Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.'"

I think his post was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but I must admit that I was not sure of that right away, either.

If it was meant as a joke, it fell flat. If it wasn't, well...

It was a joke, a jest, a jape.

And Wikipedia does not qualify as an authoritative source if information.

Nope but the King James Version of the bible is a pretty good source.

Yep I get it! Just proving a point. This thread started out about how quickly these things can escalate. My comment was in response to origination of a popular saying that nobody really gives a crap about. Unbelievable what can happen on a subject like our cars. My opinion is life is too short. When an argument starts in a thread I tend to unsubscribe.

Yeah people can get passionate over just about anything. Being passionate is one step short of fanatical and a fanatic is just someone who won't change their mind and won't change the subject.

Have fun, life's to short not to.

Well said Roger. Its irritating when asking for help and someone rags on you for something that is beside the point of original post. Hasn't happened here but elsewhere. Remember what Thumper said: "If you don't have anything nice to say then say nothing at all...."

I never understood why some guys jump a member if they ask a question. Then you hear - do a search . The guy was just asking a question looking for help .

I've had the that experience above on other sites. I think some people just get off on being an A-hole or they are just a grumpy "old" , Old is a state of mind, man looking to attack someone bravely through their key board.
These forums are meant to be places of learning about this hobby we all love.
