Ramones: I Don't Want to Grow Up
I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt
I don't wanna be a good boy scout
I don't wanna have to learn to count
I don't wanna have the biggest amount
I don't wanna grow up
I don't wanna have to shout it out
I don't want my hair to fall out
I don't wanna be filled with doubt

Old thread, but I was packing up albums tonight getting ready for the move back "home" and ran up on two jewels I'd almost forgotten about.
Rob Jungklas' 1986 "Closer to the Flame"- rough and ready Memphis rock and roll. "Boys Town" was the radio cut, but "See That Girl" and "Back to 17" were the asskickers.
Then Son Volt's "Trace" which was one of the last two or three vinyl LPs I bought before they became all but unobtainable and I had to drive to Roanoke or Greensboro to get them. "Drown" still cranks me up.
Oh hell yes there was good LOUD stuff on the turntable tonight! 'Course I also discovered the Kenwood receiver needs to go in for a sloppy connection on one of the phono inputs... got right aggravating having to pull the thing out of the built-in and jiggle the plug to get the left channel up.
Yah, I'm a dinosaur. What about it?

Heh. Several years back when my bud who ran the Amoco would let the car people hang out on his lot after closing so the cops wouldn't bug us, I had the Hurst/Olds out.
I was hungry, so I said I was gonna go for some grub and two teenage boys piled in the car with me.
When I hit the switch, the Monster Magnet tape was in the deck and turned up fairly loud. Them teenagers' eyes got big as dinner plates. "You're cranking Monster Magnet!"
Uh, yeah, and your point is?
Just because I was in my mid-forties at the time...
Then they got Filter the next weekend when I took them to the dragstrip.
Strangely enough, the car radio stays on a classical station most of the time now.

There are lots of tunes from the 60's 70's 80's and even 90's that I listen to a lot. I like hard driving rock while driving around and having a 2600 watt system doesn't hurt when it comes to turning heads. I don't play that new thump, thump, thump, thump, thump stuff the young guys play with their big subs. I have 3 sub box supported with 6 speakers and stuff like AC/DC Thunderstruck sounds great cranked loud and believe me it turns heads. my favorite new group would have to be Nickelback.Gotta love that good rock and roll.

If I'd have that kinda system, hell, I'd blast Bach and Mozart too! LOL
But I seriously think that all the people with those types of systems are developing some degree of hearing loss...not to be a buzz kill...haha. Maybe not so much with you, Wolfman, but moreover with the younger kids that happen to look/sound stupid (to some extent) with almost any type of vehicle. I saw the worst hooptie a few days ago -- a beat up early 90's Buick LaSabre with what seemed to be subs, all rattling lose nuts and bolts all over the car. The windshield was all cracked and piant was peeling -- I had to laugh...

rattlin
most of the ones I hear are in their trunks and you hear more rattling than anything else. my system is in my 90 Astro van so it has lots of room. i grew up going to rock concerts and listening to lots of loud music. I have worked for the past 6 years running a chainsaw and we get our hearing checked every couple of years. 14 months ago my hearing was still almost perfect. don't know why cause my dad went deaf and my mom is hard of hearing? makes no sense
Also the one song (for me) guaranteed to bury the tach is "Shut-Down" by the Beach Boys...it should be illegal to play in your car while driving!
