Dallas Texas members meet
Here is my grand entry - 10am sharp.

It was pretty vacant when we got here; we got first choice on tables. We actually had to change places as the sun went around.

After shooting the breeze and having lunch, we went to the "Blue Hole" site where the first set of tracks were. There are several here but you can only make out one good one. We hiked on down the trail to see it closer.

When coming back up we deviated from the trail and took the short, but difficult/dangerous way back up! Here is the view looking back down. Picture does not show how far down it really was!

After a rest and putting on sunblock (a bit too late now!) we hiked down to the second set of tracks. We looked right at them but did not know their exact shape. So we hiked on to the third set of track which were identified and marked well. These sections are in the roped off areas.

Within the orange ropes, were these.

Now see if you can find them all, comparing the diagram to the actual photo...

Within the grey ropes were these smaller tracks...

We then hiked on back to the cars where Erik and his wife departed for home and I departed to the water.

These two beauties got a lot of attention there together!

So I took off to the water with my tube, a 24oz bottle of beer, and camera, phone, and keys in a plastic jar to keep them safe, dry , and floatable.
Walking on those rocks in and around the river was TOUGH! It was as slippery as owl snot.
So I got in the tube as soon as I could and barely made it past the rocks and out to deeper water.
Here is the good life!!

This was soooooo relaxing!
Sun was hot and water was pretty warm so there was no "getting used to it". I paddled up the river to where the rocks became too shallow and floated on back.
The grand view from "Tube-Cam"....

The wind was my power, moving me at 1/100mph. I stayed in the shade of tree branches when possible. I floated around until the beer ran out, which was about 2 hours. I sweat out the alcohol as fast as I drank it so there was no imparement at all.
At 5pm, I hiked on back up to the car and ate my socond meal at a vacant table. I even thought I would be nice to the 1/2" long giant ants and give them some meat...

I watched 4-5 of them fight for it.
Two of them gave up. One of them came over and bit my foot, so in return I stomped them all.
By 545, I was on my way out.
But I did stop to get a picture of three of the dinosaurs together...

I hit the road at almost 6pm. It was hot so I drove home with the top down and some loud classic rock to make the drive even shorter - almost as short as the little video below!
Now have you ever heard a song you liked so much, you put it on repeat for an hour??
I did. The Outlaws - "Angels Hide". It was from the LP "Ghost Rider" that I copied the day before just for this trip. I love the guitar work, like in many of their performances.
Here it is:
Songs like this make me want to just drive forever.
What a memory.............

I will be around then in Dallas. Any others here around DFW who would like to get together? Need to decide on a place. Roger, what highways will you be travelling?
. At my house, in my garage, depending on W70Cars since he has my parts. Stephen allowed to come out and play that weekend?
Good Guys sounds great, we are planning on visiting State Fair in Dallas as part of our trip, spending a couple of days in the DFW area before we fly home makes good sense to us.
We will definitely be using I-35 and hwy 29, which others we use depends on our "make it up as we go" itinery
Roger.

Let me know what day it's going down - I might be able to make it as well. Are you guys thinking about that Sonic? There's a new chain in town here called Quaker Steak & Lube which isnt much farther and might be a good alternative.

So far, Thurs. will be the best, weather-wise. However, the forecast is different every time I check it, so lets keep an eye on it and keep each other updated.

OH MAN!!!!! That is not a new chain at all, just finally made it here. The original one is in PA and I had one that was about an hour from my hometown in Ohio. Tuesday nights was all you can eat wings with a drink it was like 20 bux. SO GOOOOOOOODDDD!!!!!! Dang that needs to come down to SA here lol.
While I'm sure my dad would love to take it, I'm not comfortable riding in it so we'll be leaving it in Austin. Sorry Rob
But one day you'll have to meet halfway or something. Or we'll bring it up there for the zone show.
Has your number changed at all? I'll keep up to date with you if you'll get the guys together.

Number is the same, just have to remember to turn the ol' dumb phone on.
Maybe I should check if the battery is charged...
You best believe the wings are great, and they have ALOT of flavors from what i remember as well. If you go let me know what you think of it. Would honestly be a great place for car guys to meet. The one back home had a nascar coming through the wall i think.
Rain is supposed to taper off by midnight tonight and completely end at around noon tomorrow (Thursday).
Let's plan to meet at Sonic at Marsh and Frankford like last time to keep it simple - already have the map and address right here:

Sorry guys - I can't make as the weather put me a bit behind on some stuff I have to get done this week. I will be at the zone show.
Steve, so sorry, if you decided to detour home and pass through Granbury I can make some time to meet up with you.

Great that some could make it on this cold spring day. We had Steve and his dad Joe, Jeff, and some guy named Rob...
It was too cold for eating outside at Sonic so we moved inland to Buffalo Joe's burgers. Much more comfortable to shoot the breeze and eat while not shivering! Way too cool for dallas at this time, but better than hot and humid.
With the cold overcast day, the ending of rain, and a short notice, I could understand why we only had one classic car. However, it was a beauty!
This is Jeff's '72 Supreme - paint job is very unique and eye catching! However the photo does not show the color well due to the dark grey sky. Still some minor work to do but it will go fast. He came from Mansfield so he got to enjoy a nice 100 mile cruise!

It was great chatting with you guys and look forward to another meet some time!
