Close Call
Three weeks ago today I had a major health event. If I was alone, I am convinced I would have been found on my bathroom floor dead. I have recovered fast, with no problems, but am having mental troubles over the lifestyle changes I am going to make for myself and my wife. A move, downsize and giving up activities I enjoy. Including the rebuilding part of the old car hobby.
I am hoping to finish my seats, throw on tires, tags and a for sale sign by fall. Either way, the Olds goes.
Any one with allergies out there, learn how and when to use a Epi-pen. Do not hesitate.

Sorry for your health problems but it had a great outcome. You may have to adjust your lifestyle but you might want to slow down on all the major changes. Take a break from the hobby but think it over. You can always sell everything but obviously you enjoy the hobby. Which ever way you decide, good luck.
Really sorry to hear that. I can sympathize somewhat. My cardiac issues and persistent afib have definitely slowed me down. I find I have to stop and rest frequently, especially when it's hot an humid. Good luck.
Same here,I have chronic asthma + the loss of about 1/3 of my left lung, makes me go aerobic just tying my shoes. Believe it or not you can adjust to that also. I wouldn't do anything erratic till you see just how handy capped you are going to be down the road . Sometimes the wait and see approach works well.... Best of luck ...Tedd
Sorry to hear of your unfortunate incident, but understand. I have some of the same issues as Joe, since my heart attack but still try and enjoy the hobby. Life is somewhat tolerable since they took me off the blood pressure and blood thinners. I agree with Ted, do the wait and see thing.
Hang in there man! I've had quintuple bypass, then a heart attack two years later. I take a handful of meds morning and evening. Have trouble with fatigue, can't take the heat like I used to and everything I do seems to go ever so slow. Thought about selling my cars, bikes, etc. but finally decided I would keep working on them, however slowly. Sometimes it's as hard on you mentally as it is physically...the old existential dread creeps in...I should be getting more done, do this, do that.....It just doesn't work that way anymore...chill, don't get caught up in the stress, do what you can do..
I may never get any of them completely done but I will also never give up. Even if it takes me a week to change a thermostat...well, hey..I still changed the thermostat. It's not a race anymore, just a journey. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear of your health issues... As Forest Gump's Momma once said, "Life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get"... You always need to do what is best for the family as a whole, whatever the choices are... Stress is a killer, control stress and you can "somewhat" control your health... Best of luck to both you and your wife...
Thanks guys, it ain't gonna happen to fast. I just can't live surrounded by woods, meadows and hayfields. I can't spend time in the woods or maintaining what I have. Even in the winter I can't spend more then 2 days deer hunting, puts me down for days. I came here for that. I have another project truck I may be able to save and it would be the last project. I will stay in the hobby, but get something that only needs detailing and driving, and find other hobbies. I been through a lot with severe allergies, but going down 2 days or more for spending one in the woods or fields isn't fair to my wife. I'll survive, just ain't liking the idea right now. Looking at the Florida coast, wife has family there. She has little for herself living here.
But who knows what the future holds.
