Classic Olds guys are the best!

So i just wanted to throw out a thank you to Eric, (MDchanic) and Chris Roth, they both went out of their way to supply me with not one, but FOUR manuals for my Custom Cruiser! I didnt have the means to aquire them and am new to this to say the least so im still trying to figure out the ropes and they offered without prompt to help me out for nothing in return. I absolutely cannot believe how much encouragement ive received from them and many others and fully intend on keeping the passion for olds alive. These guys have shown me more kindness than some of my own family and definitely have stood behind me and helped me figure out any issues ive run into. Without all of you i dont know where id be, probably not driving around the CC for sure. I cant thank you enough, you dont know how much all of the help means to me because honestly you guys are the only source of positive feedback i get. Again, i thank you eternally as you've given me the encouragement i needed to get this pulled together! Keep doing what your doing guys, i couldnt be more impressed. I cant wait to hear from you all in the future!

Thanks for everything!

I agree, these guys are always here to give great advice and help out when they can.

I believe M371961 (Patrick) also donated some money towards these manuals.

I hope they help you find and fix some of the issues you were having.
Cheers
Eric

It's always nice to hear good things like this. Adds some positive to the world's daily news poison.

It's great to hear that you're happy with them!

Use them well, and one day, when you are strong in the ways of the automobile, you will have a chance to pass on the favor.

Incidentally, since others did not tell me that I could reveal their names, I did not.
So, if you want to take credit, either here or by PM, I'm sure NCC would be glad to know who you are.

4 manuals? Which was the 4th one? Chassis, Body, and Electrical ... which did I miss? Owners?

So, the big question ... was there a vacuum diagram?

Sorry, ive tried to reply twice already to this thread but theres something up with my internet connection at my house, ill get halfway through and the page reloads and erases my post.

Professor ive been trying to give you credit as well, you helped out in your own special way haha

Eric sent me a used chassis service manual and chris sent me a mint one along with the body and electrical manual.

Id love to know who contributed along with their real names and user names so i can actually recognize them on here haha

Professur, there were not any clear cut vaccum diagrams... But im reading through all of the various systems that involve the vac lines and attempting to understand where they might go.

Again, i cant thank you guys enough, really, you all are life savers and i plan on being a contribution to this site one day when im more learned (;

Id also love to see a few of your faces at Nationals in Kingsport this year as i plan on going so i can complete the puzzle of whos who haha.

The best thing of having a mint and an old manual ... you have one for when your hands are clean, sitting at the kitchen table planning your work ... and one for when you're almost through the job and realize you've got left over bit

Keith, this is Chris Roth. Hey man! As I said in my message to you earlier, we are all very appreciative that a young guy like yourself is so excited and supportive of the hobby! 20 years ago i was you, your age, walking around fall and spring Englishtown, and Carlisle swap meets with my buddies looking for parts for my 72 supreme. I would follow leads on ads I saw and quickly realized how generous most people in this hobby are, or at least the Oldsmobile guys. Before you go out an buy something, always check with one of us first. These are great people here. If we dont have it, we can at least steer you in the right direction. Scott winn (oldspackrat) is a very honest guy who comes to mind, he sells good stuff very reasonably. You will also see for yourself how most people on this site will go out of their way to refer you to people who have what you need. Great, great people on this site! Welcome!
Chris

Thanks for the tips Chris, ive come to see how generous these guys are as well as yourself. This is by far the best thing ive ever found on the Internet, ever. You guys trump google. Ever since i stumbled upon classic olds its been my go to site for anything related to my car. I dont even get on ebay or craigslist because you guys have all the parts i could ever need as well. You all are just fantastic and even though you insist that i dont repay you except by keeping the passion for oldsmobiles and older cars alike alive, i still wish there were a way i could display my gratitude. I hope one day to jump on the wagon with alot of you guys and get myself an early 70's or late 60's cutlass, i drool over those cars... Theres one i saw just doen the street from my house that was an amazing cream yellow, looked perfect. I waved out of being purely dumbfounded but he ignored me, so im assuming he wasnt one of you xD

Also, ill look up oldspackrat next time im in the market for getting anything i cant resist, i believe im coming down with an illness i saw mentioned in another thread, i cant remember the name. Symptoms were refusing to sell anything oldsmobile you have and a stong erge to aquire more... LOL

Anyways, i thank you all, and wish you the best of luck in all your repairs, restorations, and searches. Cant wait to hear from you all on my next endeavor!

NCC,
Like you, I have been helped tremendously by the guys on this forum. I have met some local guys that are helping me with my build right now. I can introduce you to a friend of mine that is painting my car right now. He owns a restoration shop right across the bridge in Covington Ky. and is a hard core Oldsmobile guy. He's always looking for apprentices if you are looking at getting into restoration work.
I live on the west side of Cincy. Let me know if you want to get together and see the cars he's working on at his shop.
Glad you're on board here. It's nice to see some young blood in the Nati.!

I'll let you know the next time I'm going down there and hopefully you'll be available to check it out. I usually stop down there at least one weeknight and on Saturdays.
PM me your number when you get a chance.

Oh mercy. You drool over the thoughts of these cars you'll wet yer pants at the Nationals. Glad you're making plans to attend.

And always remember- Custom Cruisers are the absolute best parts haulers coming home from Nats! Mine's in shop now getting its PS leak fixed and A/C repaired, so I hop to be able to drive it to Kingsport, faded paint and all!

Go to those things like you'd go to a casino. Bring only as much cash as you can afford to lose. Leave the debit and credit cards at home ... or in the hands of someone disinterested. My daughter has been known to pull my wallet from my pocket as we walk into sears.

Hook up with some of the GCNK club guys and caravan down. Safety in numbers if you have trouble.

The worst you'd have to do is haul some parts home for them to repay them!
